Did You Know The 8-Track Version of ‘Pigs On The Wing’ Has an Extra Guitar Solo?

Posted September 4th, 2012 by PFO Staff

Pink Floyd Video of the Week

That’s Snowy White playing too – not Gilmour. The only other instrument is Roger Waters playing acoustic guitar.

This version forms one continuous song, whereas on the Animals album, it was broken up into 2 songs, which of course, begin and end the album.

Thanks to rarlsatan from the Pink Floyd forum on reddit for posting this cool song. We’ve made it our Pink Floyd Video of the Week.

Okay, I know this dates me, but I do have this 8-track. I also have a pretty good Neil Diamond and Bee Gees collection of tapes.

Yes, I’ve known this since 1978 when I bought the Animals album on 8-track. I still have it along with DSOTM on 8-track, but both have spent too much time out in the sun by way of sitting on my dashboard.

I always wondered why in the world they didn’t include this 8-track version on the CD’s when they came out? It’s not like they had to edit the version for time constraints like you do for LP’s.
