Let me first say I am a huge fan of Pink Floyd, and second I am contacting you to ask for your permission to use your song “Money” for a school project. I can only use thirty seconds of it unless I got permission from you, and I was wondering if I could use the whole song for the background. Please email me back!

    Thank-you

    Al Zalfini

I am working on my degree in elementary education. I am makinga digital story in which I would like to use about 30 to 45 seconds each of the music and lyrics from The Wall and Welcome to the Machine. The story could endup on the internet.

The purpose of this story is to tell of my childhood experience in public education and to explain how as a Teacher I will do things differently.

The entire story will be less than 5 mins and have the portions of the songs playing in the background as I read my story.

    Respectfully,

    Albert Zalfini

    Joe Ashcroft

    Hi there,

Firstly I am a huge fan of Pink Floyd and have been since my Dad first played it for me when I was little.

I have just finished Directing my Graduation Film for my University course in Film Production called “Decompressed”. The story is about a young soldier returning home from a tough tour in Afghanistan and trying to reconnect with his best friend, which is in itself a challenge, as the sights he witness changed his perception on his own existence.

The film boils down to the emotional breakdown of the returned soldier where he explains what he saw first hand and in a wider picture his belief of war in general. It is for the ending that’s I believe that the song “Wish You Were Here” would be perfect to use to finish the film, as it finally shows the reconnection between two best friends after a very tough ordeal.

The film is a true story based on my own experiences, so is a very personal project for me. It also means that every piece of information included in the film military or otherwise is 100% accurate.

Please visit my Decompressed’s facebook page for further details located at the bottom of this message.

And for more information about me please visit my production company’s (Reboot Media) facebook page, also located at the bottom of the page.

    I eagerly await your response.

    DJ Jimi

EMI has placed a “Copyright Violation” complaint on one of my videos which uses my own remix of “Another Brick in the Wall”, so YouTube has blocked it.

The remix utilizes various portions of the Korn, Manson and Pink Floyd versions of the song with a montage of images and video depicting how Americans are being brainwashed. I grew up with this music, and I feel the video captures and updates the essence and original message that the band originally intended. Unfortunately, in doing so I seem to have made someone at EMI uncomfortable.

I feel the political message is the real reason EMI continues to object to the video since others are allowed to use the same music in their videos with impunity. I would like to share the video with someone who might be able to persuade EMI to change their minds and allow my video to go public again.

    Thank You,
    DJ Jimi

Hello, my aunt died this Saturday, suddenly, only 49 years old. She did not die in war, but she worked in the Norwegian air force for several years (1982-2001). She loved the music of Roger Waters…. She had tickets to his show at Telenor arena 2013… and she was so proud! We are now waiting for the autopsi rapport, before we can arrange the funeral… and I know, this is probably a really stupid question for you, but… Do you think R.W could use 5 minutes to tape something or something that we can use in her funeral? She was so eager to go to the concert, and that will not happen:( Her name: Merethe Solheim, born: 23.01.1963 died: 19.01.2013… He could even write something… Just, so … yeah..

I seek your approval to adapt a PF prism artwork
image into a safe-driving e-tutorial. That art-work can help reveal the essence of safe driving,
save many lives and thereby honor the image and
its source. The tutorial may publish by June, 2012 (yes, this year).
    With anticipation for your
    precious reply,Stewart

    Stewart

    Dear PF Official:

I seek approval to insert a Pink Floyd prism-artwork image (that I found recently with the Yahoo search engine) into several places in a safe-driving tutorial that I plan to self-publish in May or June of 2013 (this year.

The image … shows a white ray of light descending through a triangular prism
from right to left. Two of the prism’s three corner points are pointed up and its sharpest point is pointed straight down from there.

The prism splits the light into six rainbow-color upward rays that exit to the left.

I plan to label the prism and each of the six rays to make an analogy to driving.

I’ll gladly attribute the image part to Pink Floyd or I will not list any attribution
    if your decision maker(s) prefer(s).

This prism image helps convey the tutorial message of safe dring which in turn will honor the image and its source.

I thank you for your consideration and look forward with anticipation to your reply.

    Respectfully, Stewart, primerz@ymail.com

I don´t know why but somewhere deep inside me I felt I needed to share this with You…All my Love

    Peter

    Greetings,
I wanted to let others know about a You Tube series of (extra short) items acting as promos for syncs. They are there to highlight some very interesting finds + some already known ones. The latter are, of course, ones known to those running this site and no doubt to many visitors. There are some great new (or at least ‘newish’) things there, at least in so much as that there is invariably a strong continuum between newer ‘finds’ and those that are well established. Therefore, you can’t know for sure if any given thing is altogether new or not.
This little catalogue(I think)goes by the general title: “How to make an A1 movie-length music clip using Alice in Wonderland 2010)” [or whichever movie is featured in that spot – eg. Wizard of Oz; The Great & Powerful Oz; Charlie & the Chocolate Factory; Willie Wonka & the Chocolate Factory; The NeverEnding Story; etc.

  27. July 18th, 2013 at 10:14 pm

    Peter

Very quickly & further to the above, the name for my collection of little items on you tube now goes something like this:
“This classic movie + listening2PinkFloyd = wild & crazy” etc (includes slight variations to cover reference to ‘dub’ tribute version of DSOM)

  28. July 19th, 2013 at 4:40 am

    Peter

Of course, as I may have seen elsewhere on this website, Alan Parsons (Pink Floyd’s recording engineer for DSOM)has said, the ideal synchronisation can be somewhat subjective and any particular match can remain quite effective even if the alignment strays anything up to ten seconds either way. This is due to the way mind grabs associations that work, in favour of those that don’t, apparently. Sounds logical enough (:

    Peter

    ACW,
Promising not to dwell on areas of slight difference of opinion, I just wanted to point out that(of course)if I said that there was something I suspected was good but hadn’t FULLY checked it out – well yes – you (ie. me/myself/I) can turn out to be wrong: MGM’s ‘J & the B/stalk’ is a fine example of my instinct and initial testing being wrong(& in a big way). Not even the alternative version, I’ve referred to several times, of DSOM, can save that one. Accoringly, the rather more ‘staid’ fantasy stories on film especially if they are cartoons intended almost exclusively for children can usually easily stand(or even need)’jazzing up’ somewhat with that alternative version. Though the notion of waves of tension-building(& the reverse, intermittently)within waves…within waves…etc goes a long way to enforcing the workability of DSOM in many of those contexts, but a certain extra/added ‘oomph’ can still come in handy in the form of that alternative version of DSOM. There is a thing called ‘Moog Side of the Moon’ I believe, which may have an application also – I’m not sure! By the way when matching fantasy style to fantasy style OR gothic style to gothic style(along the lines I’ve run past you)it is sometimes necessary to start the first track on the second scene, or the second track on the first scene etc etc (as I know you do do the likes of that , at times)or ‘whatever’ (like that). I think Rocky Horror required skipping the first scene if matched with VDGG compilation, or similar, blah blah blah. Of course, there’s no denying that The Works ‘works’best with Fantasia; The Wall works best with Alice in Wonderland(1951)and so on, AND that knowledge is couresy of yourself (& co.)
    Thank You once again, PBT

    To Whom It May Concern:

Sorry that Roger Waters is urging other musicians to boycott Israel. Since he is so politically correct, he might as well urge others to boycott jeans, thumb drives, many vaccines and text messaging, to name a few and which were all invented by Jews. He may argue that there’s a difference between Israel and Jews and boycotting Israel doesn’t make him anti-Semitic. But in reality, it’s just a modern-day form of anti-Semitism. Maybe he should try living in Israel for an hour or two to see what really goes on because he’s so far afield and gullible, he apparently has no idea what he’s talking about. Thank you.

    Laura Bishop

    Hello,
My very first Pink Floyd listening experience was when I was a little girl. My older sister had the Dark Side of the Moon album, and when she would play it, I would sit by the door to her room to listen! That was 37 years ago and I have loved their music since then, and have been to two concerts………..Awesome!

I am writing to inquire on how to legally and respectfully add music from Pink Floyd to some of my videos that I am creating for internet sharing sites such as YouTube, Facebook, and maybe a couple more. I am new to this and would like to know how to accomplish this, if it is indeed a possibility. I thank you for your time and consideration with my request.

    Sincerely, Laura Bishop

    Hello,
I could begin this e-mail writing the usual things: I love Pink Floyd and so on; but I think you know that: otherwise I wouldn’t be here writing to you… so, I’m a filmmaker who’s just getting started into film business; I’ve just finished my first short film (art-house style, some would say); I really have no money: I did it with two lenses and a Mark II!!!; but still I think is a remarkable thing I’ve accomplished… I’m planning to participate in La mostra di Venezia this year… I think you can immagine that the only music that really matches my short is yours; I would really love to talk about the rights and all the other copyright stuff. I hope you will consider this e-mail and I’m looking forward for your answer.
    P.D.
sorry for my bad english: I’m italian.

    Dear PF Official:

    Good afternoon.
I posted as #19 on April 10th, 2013 on this very web-site (see above, seeking your approval to adapt a PF prism image into a spectacular, iconic-to-be, safe-driving e-tutorial. That adapted artwork can save many lives by conveying crucial concepts in their best order and thereby honor the image and its source.

Here, I’m offering to you, probably for the last time, to approve that image for the tutorial which should publish this year. Adapted image and tutorial sample upon request.

Without your prompt approval, I’ll seek other prism images to convey the concepts and garner the honors.

I’m sure you’ve heard a flood of compliments and comments on the beauty of your music and how it transends time, and I fully agree with those points, but I digress: a mear sliver of the song “Time” would perfectly complete the short film I am working on for my portfolio which would be included in my application to Emerson, which is my dream school. Regardless of wheather or not this message is relayed, I greatly appreciate your music; it played a huge role in ameliorating my life during difficult times, and this is why I would love to include it in my work.

    Thanks,
    – Kevin DhePaganon

Hi there, as a huge fan who has all your old records and some cd,s also going to concerts, I find it disturbing that a NZ building company can have a fleet of vehicles and company logo, everyone here see,s as associated with Pink Floyd, to the point the hammers are a feature of there company logo. This company is getting very bad comments via web sites in NZ related to EQ repairs and words spreading. Waghorn Builders arnt Pink Floyd or do you collectively own this company. Love the sounds, doggy building firm you need to sort it out !

Hello. I’m from Pink Floyd’s home town of Cambridge, and I’m petitioning for a plaque to be put up in Cambridge, in honour of the band. So please could you sign my petition, to make the local Council give their permission. Many thanks.

    Hi Guys,
I’ve been looking to get my Dad a present for his 50th birthday on Sunday 27th September. He loves Pink Floyd with passion and has already booked to watch The Wall at the cinema. However, I really want to make this birthday special for him as he’s such a nice man and truly has been the best Dad ever. I was wondering if I could somehow arrange for him to meet even one of the members of his favourite band. Obviously I understand you guys have a busy schedule but you’d really make him amazed if he got the chance to meet any of you guys. I’m 16, and therefore can’t afford to pay you much. However I will promise to pay your travel if you came to Basingstoke, England or even somewhere near such as London. I’d really appreciate an email back as I’m yet to get him a present.

    Thank you for your time.

    Hello gentlemen,

I would like to ask permission for adding the title of ‘Great gig in the sky’ to a glass sculpture I’m working on.. Since it’s completely inspired by this song.
It’s a large goblet-like foot, white clouds, and on top of that a purple lady, singing.
I’d like to add a blue glass banner with the title of the song engraved, if that’s ok.

    sincerely,

    Aad van der Weel

I’d be happy to forward the song and lyrics to you.

It was produced by the renaissance church in Mass. I believe. does any one else know of this recording and how do I get another copy of this since mine was destroyed. this was a very powerful story and put together real well, any info would be nice, thanks

Message for allen jones & band: allen introduced me to roger at the csad in the 80s. Just want to say thanx for the best night of my life at the docklands gig in 87. The russian sailors in the tall boat rigs were speechless. Then the great thunderstorm & lightening show made it beyond anything i could describe. I felt like i’d been transported to heaven. The pulse artwork was beautiful. I loved the pyramids roger added for me. Took up skydiving for a few years. Then voluntary museum research on all topics from witchcraft to australopithicus. I was kidnapped on the west bank in 2013. I played madamoiselle nobs to the desert wolves just before i escaped. Very surreal. It’s an over-used phrase and sounds corny yet i send all the warmth and love in my heart for helping to pull me through it. Allen, if you’re out there, i miss you and get in touch please. *I prefer to use pen & paper. My gratitude to everyone from the ticket organisers to the sound & light crews etc & band for so much pleasure to the world. X

    ANSWER TO HATE WITH ART

Today as a society, human beings are confronted, with a paradigm that threatens the survival of living organisms on the planet.
We do not agree with the marginal and demeaning theory that oppresses and enslaves, subjects and colonizes.
We call for the union of all the artists, intellectual forces, and creative sources of the world, to provide a critical, dynamic and energetic proposal that, in a forceful way, responds against the greatest symbol of inequality that the human being can imagine: The Wall of both, the northern and southern borders of Mexico
The impudent attacks from the executive power of the United States of America are serious faults that threaten and aggravate many people and nations, due to an impudent strategy of exacerbated mood that gravitates in systematic aggression to obtain psychological breakdown.
The moral damage is already done. Notwithstanding the millions of informative matrices, which have developed a formidable wave of opinions of all kinds, color and text. The moral damage is already done.
The essence of this behavior seems to everyone, an angry outburst of conservative rationalist roots that resists and reinvents, anticipating and taking provisions, given the pressure brought by the inevitable change of our world.
The real background of these ideas does not obey, as we are led to believe, the complex problem of undocumented immigration; Obeys, in reality, the clear division that exists between American society and the separatist tension that is happening right now inside the continental territory of the United States of America. It is about the rupture of the social contract, whose effects rise dangerously temperature.
The vision produces horror. Just to experience the sight of the obscure eye of an observer, who is suppressed and subsumed, encompassed and surpassed by the nonsense that contemplates, a world divided by someone who thinks differently, and lives on the other side of the border.
The wall. Beyond the effects that its contradiction can attract; it’s a project that is born dead in the eyes of the world. The historical memory of the world’s people, records the construction of millions of walls, walls and fences that humans have built. We have been forced by our instinct of conservation for the threat of invasion and beyond the bio-political and bioethical arguments that force us to reflect today.
Studying the technical problems, which confronts the idea, we find at the outset that the project of the wall does not have the capacity to withstand the scrutiny of the simplest environmental impact analysis. It is impossible to hide, that not only humanity will be affected, but the whole ecosystem along the three thousand kilometers of border that crosses from the east to the west the whole American continent.
Anthropologically, the simple idea that in these times can conceive a project of this nature, implies a setback in our evolution. It means a return to the logic of the early Neolithic.
Human migration is a natural phenomenon and like the flow of water, it can be controlled by diverting its course, just as it will happen with the human migratory flow, it will change course, like water, but it will not stop. As long as there remains inequality, the migratory phenomenon will continue to develop and flow like a torrent. There is no wall that can stop the impulse of the human spirit.
Never, any artificial measure that is applied to contain a natural phenomenon like human migration will work. While migration is the effect of inequality, from which violence, organized crime, drug trafficking, war, hunger and persecution radiate. Cases deeply studied, confirm that we are talking about the phenomenon of greatest impact in the history of human migration.
We cannot stop the construction of the wall, with arguments, with debates or reasons, because the idea has a matrix that originates from American ideologies, which require to ponder with a deep messianic sense, what is contained in the corpus of The Manifest Destiny. A medieval vision that has implanted in the American collective imagination, the idea that justifies the expropriation, plundering and extraction of natural and human resources anywhere in the world.
The problem implicitly carries a colossal historical debt, painfully abandoned from the stage prior to the invasion of the New World by the western civilization and that placed us in the world context as periphery.
The aesthetic problem is monstrous and the picture is pathetic, only a sick society would be able to accept this.
We say that: We will return to humanity, a little dignity that has been denied and a little of the joy that has been taken away.
We will develop a work of art that will respond to hatred and honor the prophecy of the return of the Mexican God: Quetzalcoatl.
We will paint the largest mural ever known in the history of mankind. The mythological feathered serpent of our ancestors, the Toltec civilization, will be exemplified along the more than five hundred kilometers of wall, which already exist and will continue in those that are built.
In order to mitigate the impact of the project on the wall, human beings feel obliged to issue and disseminate the Quetzalcoatl Manifest. Reply to Hate with Art.
In times of social hardship, artists have always been the first step forward, as did Pablo Picasso in painting the Guernica, to denounce the Nazi bombing of the civilian population, forever changing the idea that humanity had on the war.
Today, the Guernica is the emblematic artistic work of the denunciation against the war.

QUETZALCÓATL MANIFEST Artists respond to hatred with art

With the intention to produce a critical space of convergence, within the norms that govern the contemporary artistic practices. The community adhering to and driving the Quetzalcoatl Manifest summons the world’s plastic artists, ready to collaborate with the project of making a mural, on the surface of the wall, of a canvas of more than 500 kilometers in length, plus those who leave Building in the future. Beginning at the San Diego, California wall, he invites them to present an individual or collective proposal in the disciplines of painting, sculpture, photography, installation, video, object art and drawing, indicating as deadline, to receive proposals and accessions on 13 Of August 2017.
In order to promote the aesthetic production that renews the cultural panorama and contributes to the humanistic development in favor of the diffusion and proliferation of the right to freedom of expression, in the biggest stage of the world. To the artists of the whole world we extend today our fraternal invitation. First, to allthe Latin American intellectual community, to all those who have it clear that the effect of the physical wall of our northern border is closely linked to the immoral virtual wall that we Mexicans have built on our southern border against our Latin American brothers. A wall that is not physical, but that is equal or more criminal and shameful. An invisible, muffled wall that goes beyond the limits of cruelty and inequality.
We also call on American society, its plastic artists, its poets and philosophers, writers and journalists. To our Mexican brothers who have always lived in our hearts, even though they are located on the other side of the border, to join this humanitarian exercise of artistic expression.

Artists of the world, united in a colossal project of art, that consists in realizing the largest mural that the human being has conceived.
