Quote:Syd Barrett, one of the original members of legendary rock group Pink Floyd, has died at the age of 60, the band's spokesman has confirmed.
He was born Roger Keith Barrett in Cambridge in 1946 and met future bandmates Roger Waters and David Gilmour at school there.
The guitarist was invited to join Pink Floyd by Waters in 1965 and the group went on to sell millions of albums.
He suffered from diabetes and had not been recording music in recent years.

This is a very sad day for Pink Floyd and for Rock music. Syd has been a huge inspiration to many.
It is a shame that none of the members of Pink Floyd got to say a proper goodbye to their original frontman.
Syd was a legend and will forever be, Shine on Syd

I'm pretty sure it's true.
I'm in huge shock. I didn't think we'd be living in a world without Syd Barrett just yet.
