Is there like a list or something that PFOnline and the mods have of people who would possibly make good future moderators? If so who is on it? Wowser, certainly?
Nah, wowser had his turn at modding and didn't like it, resigning his position as a Guitar forum mod and suggesting he become a board mascot instead.

The only list that exists is in the head of PFOnline, (with other moderators also knowing who they would suggest to, as PFO isn't always around as much as us, so may need a pointer or two). The only criteria that is ever used is for someone who demonstrates an all round ability to post quality(?) replies and has a reasonable knowledge of most subjects that they would be moderating for. 10,000 posts of nonsense and one word replies would not put you higher up this fictional list than 500 quality posts.

The only time new moderators ever seem to get added is when more are considered to be needed. If it was felt that the board had expanded to the point where the current line up could not cope, I'm sure more would be added. Equally if someone left the board or resigned their role, if it appeard that a replacement was necessary, the appropriate one would be asked. There is no physical list and we have had requests from people before, (some who are only 13, just joined and then leave fairly soon after they are told the same as I have stated here), but the only one who can take that final decision and add anyone to the list, is PFO and I have heard no mutterings of late to suggest we need any more.
You've certainly enlightened me Steve, as always? I've heard Wowser was a "rebel mod". What the heck does that mean?
I'm not sure what that means. Wowser did a fine job as a mod while he served as far as I saw, and I'm sure he'd be welcomed back as a mod if he wished to do it again.
Cool - the only reason I quit was because being the Guitar mod was useless - i had no control and couldn't move posts. I will think about rejoining.
Being a mod might be cool for like a month or so, then it would just be an annoying little burden.

But then, I wouldn't know.
It would be great to have you back Wowser. :) All mods are global mods at this point so you'd have more functionality this time.

Yes AndersonCouncill, being a mod is not for everyone. It can be tedious and a bit of work at times, but not too bad usually.

But you have also aired concerns about having difficulty trying to set an example. You like to say what you like, when you like and you can't always do that when trying to moderate, (think about the word, medium, middle ground, queller of arguments).

It would be nice to see you back on board though. I joined less than a week before you resigned your duties and only a couple of weeks before your status became "member" again, so I can barely remember you having a mod logo beneath your name. I think it would be different now with the global mods and you would enjoy it more.

From what I have seen, you posts thus far have been of a reasonable quality, certainly not gushing. I put the question mark in there for my own questionable posts at times. Before I joined the team, two incidents spring to mind that would have ordinarily prevented someone from being a moderator. One night of at least three way drunken arguing, in multiple topics, (if anyone wants to read them, I can just about remember where they were, although one cowardly party deleted some of their posts making it seem less their fault) and the other was between myself and another popular member starting and filling an entire topic with nonsense and posting in the wrong place on purpose.

With those incidents in mind, I can say if your overall record is good and smaller nonsensical fun is discounted, you have every chance when one is needed.
