Hello, to all fellow Floyd fans!! I've been to this site many times, and NEVER noticed it had a forum. I'm an American, deployed to Cuacao, and Pink Floyds music came back to the fore front of my thoughts, as I've picked up SCUBA diving here. Trust me, It just begs for some Floyd music on a tropical reef. I went to another fan site, that has a board, but its like a freakin' MORGUE over there. Somebody just unplug the server, and end the misery. I found this place has one, saw the activity, and jumped into it!! I do understand, the bands lack of "work" takes some of the wind out of the sails of the fans
but I hold out, just a teeny bit, that perhaps we might get another bit of work out of the fellows. Painters paint, and I know Dave is doing the Dad thing right now, and Syd's death was no treat. They have spent like 10 years making money off of stuff they've already done, that is pretty cool, but c'mon!! I've had the pleasure to see them twice, and one more time would be real awesome
I figure Dave looks in the mirror, and sees an old man looking back, but ONE more record and tour? and his family is set for generations. Lastly, I don't think it helped that alot of young Floyd fans panned the, "Division Bell," 'cause it wasn't trippy enough, or whatever, but that was a well done piece of music with a story or two to tell. To much mouth running
I look forward to a more, "alive" fan site!!!!! much love.

Welcome to PFO Captain

Thanks for the warm regards, from all you Floydians
I'm not a Captain in the Military (TSgt.). I chose the handle, "Capt. Midnight," because a friend that turned me on to Floyd as a teenager, was very much into them, and showed me a copy of some underground comic, with a dude called," Capt. Midnight," that traveled planes of reality, and had some spyglass that could peer into other realms on his journeys. He swore at the time, that it was the inspiration for the artwork for, "saucer," I don't know this to be absolute fact, just the story I got then
I do remember seeing the comic. I do know, the dude had only been in the US for a few years, he was Swiss. Not that it made him the resident expert on Floyd, but at the time, he was to me. I've posted before, "the Wall," was Floyd to me in secondary school, and it never did anything for me. It came out about the same time as AC/DC's "Highway to Hell,"as it was it my, "Bevis 'n Butthead," era, was more to my taste. My swiss friend, being more worldly than I, had me over to his house, and we shared a fine mushroom pizza
and laid in the dark, and turned me on to the rest of Floyd. I recall; he had this AWESOME candle powered, stained glass light show deal, when I first heard, "Piper," I was like, PLAY MORE OF THAT, PLAT MORE OF THAT
and at that time heard the sad tale of poor Syd
but my mind was "raised" to another ,higher level of being. The friend is now long gone, but he turned me on to things outside the ghetto that I was raised in. I'm a full time Fireman, and also do so partime for the Air Force. Like the enigma that is Floyd, if a more developed human hadn't taken me under his wing, I'd most likely be working at a car wash now. I'm not allowed to eat those pizzas these days, but Floyds music still sounds good on my deck quaffing down Stella Artois as I smoke a fine cut of meat. I will be able to retire before I'm fifty, SCUBA dive, eat and smoke as I wish, and enjoy Floyd from that perspective again.........
We all need something to look forward to!!
