So, so you think you can tell Heaven from Hell,
blue skies from pain.
Can you tell a green field from a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?
And did they get you to trade your heroes for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
Cold comfort for change?
And did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?
How I wish, how I wish you were here.
We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year,
Running over the same old ground.
What have you found? The same old fears.
Wish you were here.
Wish You Were Here Syd.

Shine on you Crazy Diamond. rocker
i bought The Madcap Laughs on the 6th.
i had never heard syd's work or any early floyd (just got Piper earlier this week).
i had heard of syd and done a liiiittle research but i didnt know it was his birthday.

thats a little trippy/transcendental/psychedelic/AWESOME.
I also recently got a lot of Syd's solo material. Honestly, I was expecting it to sit on my computer never really being listened to because, as much as I adore Pink Floyd and all things associated with them, I didn't dig it so much. But then I gave his material a listen, and found myself delighted with it.
