i got David Gilmour's "Live in Gdansk" with christmas money and i'm trying to write a few essays on the floyd. in my brainstorming, i was stumbling over why gilmour played Syd's songs... there was a TON of syd work/reference on the second disc. actually, it almost seems to be a stand alone tribute record to syd.. it was recorded live August 26, 2006. about six weeks after syd's death.
were they friends?
was syd not jealous of gilmour?
is it true that gilmour helped in recording syd's records?
was there interaction there or was it just tense and awkward?
did gilmour do it just out of a sense of obligation for taking syd's position?
just some questions i have been coming up with.
i understand its pretty hard to answer them, but input/opinions would be AWESOME.
