I'll tell you guys the best and worst things about the show.....

Best things:
Light show was awesome. All the pink floyd stage effects from the PULSE tour were there. Including Mr. Screen.
Song List. I posted the setlist earlier in the thread. Everything from Piper to Divsion Bell, and everything in between.
Music. Perfect. I coulda swore it was the master tracks from the album. Good quality for an arena.
Crowd. Awesome crowd. They got into it as much as me, which is saying something.
Great gig in the Sky. As good, if not better, than the studio version. It needed to be, on september 15.

Worst Things:
No lasers. They did, however, have something that was like a hybrid laser-light thing. It did make cooler designs than the lasers could.
No inflatables. But there probably wasn't enough space to place them behind the stage.
Ist half of the show was a little iffy. The DSOTM set had some technical difficulties, but it was all sorted out by the time they started the Wish You Were Here setlist.

"thee"? Waxing biblical now cev?

BTW, I've heard people that have heard bad reviews about the tour so far (i.e. no inflatables or lasers, etc.) Though I had those problems, it wasn't really that bad of the show. Mr. Screen was still there, along with the multicolored lights and the hybrid lights I told you guys about. They seem to take the place for the lasers. Why they went so short on the effects, I'm not sure. Nevertheless, it was a great show.
The main reason for lack of inflateables or lasers is venue based. Usually there is just not enough room for them. The only discouraging words I've heard have been based around effects, none have mentioned the actual music. To me the lasers and inflateables could stay packed away in the truck. I've never "got" lasers, to me they're just random squiggly lines on the ceiling. The authentic Floyd inflateables are cool, but again, meaningless to the music imho. I always get what I want and expect from The Aussies, amazing musicianship, great video and a killer light show.
Considering the cost of the tickets when up, but the quality of the production went down, this year's show was a disappointment. :(

And I'm a big Aussie Floyd fan.

@ cevor:
The lasers and the inflatables are part of the Pink Floyd experience. They've used lasers at the venue I was at in the past, and even advertised them for this year, but didn't use them. I kind of get the feeling this year's tour was thrown together on a napkin. Ermm
Sorry to hear you're disappointed. It's the sign of a attentive fan. While I understand what you're saying about the lasers and the inflatables, to me it's just fluff. No matter who it was, I've never been impressed with lasers and while they may have been a part of the Floyd "experience", they just don't make the show to me. Inflatables didn't they come along until the Animals tour and The Wall tours? I don't recall and could be wrong of course, but I don't remember inflateables on the P.U.L.S.E. tour. I would take it as a nice change without either of them.
Did the previous show at the same venue have inflateables? If so, was it just Skippy or did they have the Floyd's also. One thing I can assure you of is that the show wasn't thrown together on a napkin, the guys are far more proper than that and would've used a neat legal pad.
I promise I'll check back with a review after I see them a week from tomorrow.
I do agree that good special effects at a concert are a part of making a great show, but if the music the band plays really trips your switch it matters not to me wether they have effects or not. I was lucky to see the P.U.L.S.E tour at Earls Court, London on 16th Oct 1994 (I still cant believe that is just over 15 years ago!) with its amazing lasers and inflatable pigs ( Pigs used during One of those days) and yes it was fantastic. I saw the Aussies earlier in the year with lasers and inflatables at the NIA, Birmingham - a truly awesome experience. I also saw them at Croydon a few months ago at a small venue with no lasers or inflatables but the show was as good as any past show.
.................damn, I wish the Aussies used lasers and inflatables Sad or should I say I wish the venue was larger so they could have them. None the less their performance was spot on!
Sadly we won't be attending the show in Hershey, PA tomorrow night. We just found out we'll be moving at the end of the month so a whole day away is out of the question. I'm pretty pissed since I didn't see them last year either.
At least Mr. Cattell will be home to guest with Childhood's End in Ithaca on 11-6.
