I saw this quote on a Syd tribute website:


Gilmour: I last saw him around Christmas in Harrod's. We just said 'hi', you know. I think actually of all the people you've spoken to, probably only Storm and I really know the whole story and can see it all in the right focus. I don't know what Syd thi nks or *how* he thinks. Sure I'd be into going back into the studio with him, but I'm into projects like that anyway. Period

I don't believe that's a real quote at all, because numerous interviews I've read of his over the years have said quite plainly that after Syd's appearance at Abbey Road while they were recording SOYCD, none of them saw him again nor did they make any attempt to see him. David made sure that Syd got all the royalties and monies he was due, but that was through Syd's sister.


So yeah, I'm calling BS on this one.

It is a real quote from an interview that Gilmour did with Nick Kent of New Musical Express in 1974. Gilmour next saw Barrett at the Abbey Rd sessions in 1975. That was the last time, yes.

Roger last saw Syd at Harrod's, but didn't talk to him. They all respected his privacy.
