Hello everyone, I am a new member that has found much fascination with Pink Floyd and all of their music, and as such, became a huge fan of the band. I was introduced to The Beatles through Rock Band, with the release of "The Beatles : Rock Band", which thereafter got me into big band names like The Who, Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, etc. Pink Floyd is one of the biggest bands of all time, I came across them only knowing one song (Another Brick in The Wall), and was very curious about their music. Dark Side of The Moon was easily a Gateway album into the world of Floyd, and now I can easily say that Pink Floyd and The Beatles are tied at no.1 for my favorite band.

I am a big rock band person, which in my opinion is just another way to get into different kinds of music. With my newfound liking to Pink Floyd, I wonder if there could be a Pink Floyd : Rock Band? I originally found the article with Nick Mason, in which he said "We'd Consider it" but also said
Quote:"It irritates me having watched my kids do it - if they spent as much time practicing the guitar as learning how to press the buttons they'd be damn good by now."

This was some time ago, but now rock band is taking a step towards realism.

Quote:Rock Band 3 empowers players to develop actual musical skills through the fun of fully scalable Rock Band Pro gameplay. Fans can dive in on Easy to try out basic skills and work their way up to Expert for real mastery.

Pro Drums supports three expansion cymbals, with gameplay differentiation between toms and cymbals.
Pro Keys features pitch-accurate keyboard performance across a two-octave range, displayed on an easy-to-read keyboard track.
Pro Guitar features notated guitar and bass performances, available for play with either the new Fender Mustang PRO-Guitar simulated guitar controller from Mad Catz or the Rock Band 3 Squier by Fender Stratocaster Guitar Controller that is a real guitar/controller hybrid. The Rock Band 3 Squier Stratocaster is a fully functional, full-sized, six-string electric guitar that also functions as a game controller.

With the inclusion of now keyboard and pro instruments, I think a Pink Floyd styled game would be great!rocker

What do you Floydians think?'
I don't know. I don't play video games and have no interest in them anyway, so ultimately it wouldn't affect me if they did or didn't.....I just think it's kind of cheesy. I'd rather people get into the band the same way I did and the same way countless others did who are older than me and remember the band at their peak -- listening to the music.

Like I said.....it's just me.

Most music that is played on the radio nowadays is either Hip-Hop, Rap, Or Dance. I always listen to one of two Oldies stations, but they hardly ever play some of the hit classics that should be played. I think a PF:RB would be a good way to get new fans to great music. I've never heard any Pink Floyd on the radio, television, or in any sort of media. Heck, even when I saw someone wearing a Pink Floyd T-Shirt a long time ago, I thought to myself "Bleh...Rock Music." I regret that now, and I think many other people would turn out the same.
That's because you're listening to terrestrial radio. Online radio/satellite radio is the only way to go. That way you're going to hear a hell of a lot more than just hip-hop, rap or dance.

If you're willing to look for it, there's still a lot of good music in a lot of different genres being made today.
Somehow I dont know why. I'd rather not see this.
Well to be quite honest why does there need to be a Pink Floyd: Rock Band? the game promotes the idea that if you can play a piece of plastic you will just be as good with the real guitar. There will also be the same problem with The Beatles: Rock Band; alot of songs will get cut in favour of other songs and for a band like Floyd that is not a good idea. Just think about the idea of playing the game without the whole of, say, Dark Side or Animals, I rather not have that.
I don't think the game promotes that at all. Everyone knows a real guitar is a lot harder to play than a piece of plastic with five buttons. It's just a game to have fun and play along to your favorite songs. My friends and I want a Pink Floyd Rock Band because we love Pink Floyd and want to play their songs. Playing Dogs would be amazing.
while i do play the games (i play actual guitar as well lol) i don't think it would be suited for Floyd, i think it was easier for them to do it with bands like green day and the Beatles because their songs were shorter and easier for use...i think it would be awesome to play Echoes...but lets be honest...how many casual music fans want to play it in its entirety? let alone not playing the entire album (like floydium mentioned before)...plus its just never been something the floyd seems to have done much of before...having their own game is something i feel that a bad like Kiss would do, they would only make money, which is obv. something gilmour is completely against seeing as he won't tour with roger unless there is new material which he doesn't feel like making...trust me, it would be awesome to play Echoes or all of animals on rock band...but i just don't see it happening

From Rock Band 3 on the game is going to use an actual guitar.
As cool as it would be, I don't think it's going to happen.
