I've seen SOAD, KoRn, Nightwish and Dream Theater...any other covers?
Haven't seen any. Try google
The Flaming Lips covered all of The Dark Side of the Moon, the Scissor Sisters covered Comfortably Numb, Radiohead covered Wish You Were Here....that's all I can think of off the top of my head.

Radiohead's cover is amazing, the rest are crap.
Also Velvet Revolver did a cover (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3q84pXEVw...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3q84pXEVwSI&featur
Wyclef Jean did a cover too which got #2 in the U.K. but I think it sucks because its spead up and the drum beat ruins it (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_jqutCxpKLU) also at 2:34 he gets into a rap and Its really funny haha
The only good cover out there is Radiohead's version of Wish You Were Here. It stayed true to the original, but still sounded like Radiohead. Taking the basic melody from the guitar to the piano was genius, but that's what makes Radiohead so amazing.
Marillion's audience is doing a great job on Wish... in this clip. Thumbsup

that is amazing!! Aw I Wish I was there. He doesn't do a bad job on the guitar solo either. I enjoyed it. I listened to the radio head cover and honestly I didn't like it. I thought they misused backwards tracking and odd background noises that made song more ominous. I liked the Marillon version better Tongue
The problem with doing covers of Pink Floyd is that there's a 100% chance you're gonna do worse haha
I love Marillion. Never thought they'd do a Pink Floyd cover. Thanks for the input, everybody.
Yesterday I watched a 2 hour show done my a cover band, I think from Las Angeles called "Have a Cigar" and they were great. Although some of their equipment wasn't set up very well, several times the mics peaked and startled the crowd including during the female singing in The Great Gig in the Sky which set off the tone. Their singing wasn't bad they could mimic a decent accent (unlike some Brazilian cover bands Ive seen and their never forgot lyrics except for one time in Comfortably Numb where they messed up the verses. Some of the time they sung a little too far away from the mic and weren't consistent as they could have been.
Their playing was good and gave the music (and guitar solo's) their own work while over staying in tone with the original work. I think their keyboarding could have had more of an influence because the other instrument sometimes browned it out unnecessarily when the keyboard's tone should have had more of an influence (such as in a lot of Shine on You Crazy Diamond). Other then stuff like that I thought their playing was much better then other cover's IVe heard.
Their show was much better than anything Ive seen. They had laser's they had lights, they had smoke, they had a projector and a laser shinning above then showing images pertaining to the song (a parent with a child - Mother, Cash Register - Money). They mixed effects too (lasers/smoke) to make cool effects which seemed to have impressed the crowd there as well as myself.
If you want to see the show I have a link: http://www.livestream.com/frontrowentert...http://www.livestream.com/frontrowentertainment/video?clipId=flv_e09526ea-9a6e-454e-85e7-d2

Marillion are great Floyd fans and Steve Rothary's favorite guitarist is one David Gilmour.

I really like their cover as well.
