I was looking at the track listing and there were 4 songs I would remove, that in my humble opinion I dont believe to be on the album...they are

1. Keep Talking (my least fav song on Divsion Bell)

2. When the tigers broke free (just dont care for it to much)

3. Bike (Better deserving songs to be on the best of)

4. Marooned (I like it, but I feel other songs are stronger)

I would replace those 4 with 1 song each from the 4 studio albums not represented on Echoes

From Ummaguma - Grantchester Meadows
From Atom Heart Mother- Atom Heart Mother
From Obscured by Clouds- Free Four
From More- The Nile Song
I would:

Exchange:

Sheep with Dogs.
Keep Talking with Coming back to life
The Fletcher memorial home with The Final Cut
WTTBF with In the Flesh
Marooned with Terminal Frost.

Then:
Make Echoes full lenght
Add Run Like Hell, One Slip, On the turning away, Poles apart.

Or screw this whole idea and just do a boxset with every Floyd studio and live album in it.

It would cost like 400$ though : (
Ready for this? I'm about to blow your mind....

Get rid of Echoes altogether and replace it with "The Essential Pink Floyd," which contains only radio hits. Think about it, what is the target audience for Echoes? Casual fans don't want to pay $30 to listen to things like When the Tigers Broke Free or even Marooned. And those with a better appreciation for their music would want to buy their regular albums (where they are best enjoyed) anyway. Here's my idea of a good collection:

Disk 1:
1. Another Brick in the Wall, Pt. 2
2. Money
3. Learning to Fly
4. See Emily Play
5. Hey You
6. Have a Cigar
7. Young Lust
8. One of These Days
9. Time
10. Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Dance Songs Version)
11. Arnold Layne
12. Mother
13. Brain Damage/Eclipse
14. Wish You Were Here
15. Comfortably Numb

Disk 2:
There is no disk 2.

Blasphemy? Maybe...but I'd buy it.
As long as its remasterd and digitally messed with and it has a case big enough for 2CDs but it only comes with one.

I'd buy it.

That's actually a pretty good idea. I know I wouldn't buy it, but a compilation like this should be made for people trying to get into Floyd, and those people would hate sitting through all of Echoes.
But maybe something like Childhood's End or Fearless instead of Young Lust...
It must be a local thing. They play young lust a lot in my area. (Holy Crap!!! I swear it just started playing even as I'm typing this, how spooky is that?...) I would think it's more popular than fearless/childhood's end (although not as good as those, i agree), but maybe it's not as common on other radio stations as it is the one I listen to.
I would include Run Like Hell on that list and maybe High hopes since that was a single.
Yeah, if I was just going with the most popular and accessible stuff, I would definitely include something from Division Bell, since it actually did very well commercially... probably Keep Talking (like it or not, it got a lot of airplay) and/or High Hopes.

Young Lust and Run Like Hell used to get played on the local classic-rock stations a lot when I lived in the US, so I'd definitely include the latter, too.

I'd make space for the additions above by removing SOYCD--it's definitely one of their best, but I've heard most of the other songs on the radio more.

A couple of other weird possible choices that I used to hear on the radio: Free Four and Not Now John. But, maybe that was just what the Seattle stations played.

Anyway, without songs like Dogs, SOYCD, Echoes and Astronomy Domine, it wouldn't exactly be the "best of" Floyd, but it might be "Floyd's Greatest Hits."
