1. Echoes (Has the coolest songs)
2. Dark Side of the Moon (Awesome lyrics, it's amazing)
3. The Wall (It is awesome.)
That was my last list. Dunno what the hell I was thinking, but oh well. I'm gonna revamp it...
1. Dark Side
2. WYWH
3. Meddle
4. Animals
5. The Wall
6. Piper
7. Division Bell
8. Saucerful
9. Momentary Lapse
10. More
11. Final Cut
12. OBC
13. AHM
14. Ummagumma
I never really cared much about the last ones. And Momentary Lapse has some good songs, but doesn't have the "Floydian" feel. More is pretty strong. I just got it, and I think it's pretty awesome. So, that's mine. However, this can change at any time.
1. The Wall - It's what got me hooked. It's perfect in all angles. <10>
2. Wish You Were Here - It's close with the next 2 <10>
3. Dark Side Of The Moon - good ole times smokin to this <10>
4. Animals - I was astonished when I got this album <9.5>
5. A Saucerful Of Secrets - underrated <9>
6. Meddle - San Tropez may be my fave floyd song <8.5>
7. Music From The Film More - I underestimated it.. <8>
8. Obscured By Clouds - I can never remember the album it seems <7.5>
9. A Momentary Lapse Of Reason - underrated but kinda slow <7>
10. Ummagumma - good album, just not super meaningful <7>
11. Atom Heart Mother - half great, half mediocre <6>
12. Piper At The Gates Of Dawn - just don't know it well yet <6>
13. The Final Cut - kinda boring like AMLOR but not any great ones <5>
14. The Division Bell - too 80'sish and burnout like, but not bad <4>
I don't understand how ASOS and More are so low on all these lists. The albums are easily in the top half of better albums by the band. They have such good rhythm.
1. Dark Side of the Moon
2. Wish You Were Here
3. The Wall
4. the Division Bell
5. A Momentary Lapse of Reason
1. piper at the gates of dawn.
2. dark side of the moon.
3.wish you were here.
4. animals.
5. the wall.
And just how do most of you compare your rankings? Meaning those who will place a number value on an album from 1 to 10. That is to say do you judge an album based on the total value of other albums from that same artist or base it's value on a pool of many other albums?
Do you, say compare how you like an album based on the upper scale - 10, your favorite album by that artist, and the lower scale - 1, your least liked album by that artist? Or do you compare the album against all other albums from other artists.
That other forum that someone was always hawking has a few kids that give out 10 rankings like drugs in middle school.
Well I based mine on being Floyd albums.
The Final Cut and Division Bell were good albums imo but not amazing. They're still better than plenty other albums by other bands but as far as Floyd albums go, they're very mediocre.
1.Wish You Were Here
2.Meddle
3.The Dark Side of the Moon
4.Animals
5.The Wall
6.The Division Bell
7.The Piper at the Gates of Dawn
8.A Momentary Lapse of Reason
9.A Saucerful of Secrets
10.The Final Cut
11.Obscured by Clouds
12.Atom Heart Mother
13.Music From The Film More
14.Ummagumma
1 Animals (Every song is absolutly great, not a weak second)
2 Ummagumma (Why is this album so underated, there's worlds to get lost in)
3 Amused to Death (I know it's not technically a Floyd album, but it's in the same style and better than most of them)
4 Dark Side of the Moon (only problem is it is so over played. At least dub side of the moon gave new life to these songs)
5 The Wall (over ambitious but the good songs are soooo good)
6 Meddle (Echoes is one of the best songs ever, but A Pillow Of Winds and Seamus are nearly unlistenable)
7 Piper at the Gates of Dawn (Briliant, every song is excelent, and it's hard to beat Interstellar Overdrive)
8 The Final Cut (Every song is good, very mature lyrics, one of their most underated)
9 Wish you Were Here (a solid album, most songs good, but I can't stand welcome to the machine)
10 Atom Heart Mother (the title track is really good, but has some murky directionless moments. If and Fat old Sun are top notch, but Summer '68 is rather dull and Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast is unlistenable)
11 Division Bell (very good for a non roger album, almost every song is good, but no song is great)
12 Saucerful of Secrets (a confused and mudled effort, most songs are pretty good but Remember A Day and See Saw are unlistenable. A very uneaven album)
12 More
14 Obscured by Clouds (it's not that these two are bad, it's just that nothing about them ever really grabbed me.)
15 Momentary Lapse of Reason (this album is BAD. Most of it I can't stand to hear. Learning to fly is relentlessly comercial, One Slip is probably the best thing on here, On The Turning Away has some great guitar work but most of the song is just sappy, Sorrow has a feaking awesome intro that gives way to a mediocre song, and the reast of the album well the master tapes should be burning in hell.)
1. The Piper at the Gates of Dawn - Absolutely brilliant
2. Animals - Musical and lyrical masterpiece
3. The Wall - Amazing lyrics, concept, production, it's all there
4. The Final Cut - Touchingly beautiful, unfairly maligned masterpiece
5. Wish You Were Here - Beautiful tribute to the late Syd
The rest I don't really listen to enough anymore to care about.
