Thank you very much Phil for your kind advice. My daughters father is a musician and she plays another instrument as well. When I was younger I took flute lessons but was distracted by my instructor, hence never took it as seriously as I should have. I, on the other hand just have a good ear for music and a great appreciation. Thank you once again.
PS: I found Ultimate Guitar tabs a great site.
I am having a bit of a battle with my daughter regarding instruments. She plays another instrument and wants to play bass. I insist she start with accoustic. She insists she wants bass. Any advice?
Wiez, I'd agree with you on that. Learning acoustic first gives her more options, as a bass is essentially just the first four strings of a guitar(hence the same notes) but I would personally encourage her to do what she wants. I started on violin when i was six and didn't really enjoy it, but the classical training gave me a head start musically and enabled me to write or work out other people's music quivker.
Mmmm, just some basic advice for anyone. Read up on your musical theory. Musical theory is very important. Make sure you know dorian modes, etc. And please...learn to play in key. That is essential. Nothing more annoying than having a jam session and the other players are staring at you blankly trying to figure out what key your in.

i tought myself how to play to it is a challenge but i have recently started lessons to learn notation
I taught myself, and I am guessing that it is easier this way as you can go at your own pace. For musical theory, I just bought a guitar book, and read.....boring!!!

i agree but im not intrested in theory but your right teaching yourself is the easiest way as u can work at your pace also it allows you to play your own style instead of playing the same chords from books over and over again until you get them right
