Scream, 1984 is history. So is Animal Farm. In the US today, I really don't believe that the politicians in office give a f**k what people want. I think it is a good ole boy network and it operates when it is greased by the conservative administration.
Why can't Bush stop his car and speak with the woman who lost her son in Iraq and is protesting the war outside his Texas ranch? Is one son not enough?

BALANCE OF POWER!!
Say 5-10 years from now, the government becomes so powerful that the people have absolutely no voice in government anymore and the government can do pretty much anything it wants, basically like a dictator. Then the people must rise above and take the power back! Your not gonna be able to do that without guns!
That is why the 2nd Amendment is one of the most important Amendments we have! If the government ever tried to take away every single gun in the country, there would be a revolution!
Aren't all of the amendments equally important. How about the 1st amendment? The right to free speech, petition, assembly, religion and press? How about the right to vote, granted in the 19th amendment for all people? How aboout the right to a speedy trial or the right to representation? Those are all important rights, none that should be taken away. Without those rights we loose our democracy.
P.S we have the power to put in a dictator, which can and does happen, so if one is to rise in this country it's because the majority wanted him in power.
That's true Sydney, to those about the gun thing I've always heard gun control was hitting what you aimed at. You are level headed person.
Scream Thy Last Scream Wrote:does anyone think this is a very orwellian theme thread. there are shades of 1984 and animal farm in the posts. is that era coming back----the late forties, english summers, and poetry, scaremongering and weapons......the wall perhaps???????
No, and it's lazy to say everything is 'Orwellian'. It's like saying Bush is a 'Nazi'
Yeah, Bush isn't a nazi. He's just an overall dickhead.

really? have you looked outside your door yet and smell the stench of decaying rats? have you got a touch of paranoia that the big conglomerates actually run this world? or that the G8 are actually meeting in the middle of nowhere places for a reason except for the protests?
your talking about gun control and taking away civil liberties. i thought that was what the book was about?
oh well. i only come from a nation that lasted 900 years against a foriegn enemy. and in the end, no one won.
Day after day, a mother that lost her only son in the Iraqi war sits on the road outside of Bushs Ranch while he is on his 3 week vacation. Day after day he passes by her and does not stop. She is a quiet woman and all she wants is to tell Bush how she feels about the war. He never stops. The reason why she has recieved any attention at all is because of her quiet patience, waiting for him to stop. He never will.
Saw about that woman on the news.
i hate bush for one reason only. he is a thoughtless war monger who got himself into presidency through his own doings. i never liked his father because he was a money grabbing snide. i know all about that woman. and the american public were not told about the retaliation that might be brought against thier own sons and daughters. did they really think iran was going to sit back and let a ''coalition''( and i say that with a pinch of salt) walk all over its land just for oil?
ive always been an anarchist. ive always hated monarchy. but what power nations are all about now is themselves and thier pockets.
take a look at the massacre of the children in russia earlier on in the year. they didnt show footage of what the russian soldiers did to the chechen people, did they? and i mean before that massacre. people dont kill children for nothing. the pnly people who do that rule your nations. i am no condoning that massacre, all im saying is people power is seemingly not allowed anymore. we vote them in (well....im a non voter) and they walk all over us and the world. is it good enough to allow a government that runs your country bomb women and kids? and for what? since the war started in iran (the second vietnam....when will they ever learn) how many times has the cost of living gone up, and i mean around the world?
ireland is currently the dearest country in europ, its official. why? the cost of living here is enormous. and its since america and england entered that war. the only sympathy i have for anyone is those poor families that lost thier sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, mothers or fathers. i know how it feels to loose someone close unfairly. its not very nice.
so f.uck you and your ideals about deporting people, because those people are now part of your countries backbone.
remember besen? remember aushwitz? remember dachau? a nasty memory for the world to remember. because that war led directly to what happened in sarejevo and kosovo. and were those poor people helped?
soz all for ranting.....this thread just gets to me sometimes.
