When you strip away many of the political layers of this issue you find key elements that are common to our topic.
I've been watching this with great curiosity - not sure what to think of it. It's sure an interesting development, though! I've heard some really emotional pleas on both sides of the coin.

Your question, do I agree or disagree: I feel ambivalent. I'm pretty confused by it (I don't live there, don't know the many repercussions either way), so am sure not up to an argument at all.

Sorry, but I think I would need to be there to make a better-informed decision!
Artie, what I meant by my post was that I believe that many people in the US make money off the poor and then turn around and condemn them while stuffing their pockets. Poverty in the US is a business. Make no mistake. I am still trying to figure out why so many millionaires and billionaires pay less tax than than those trying to raise a family of four, percentage wise. And please don't try to sell me that there is no influence pedaling among big business and the politicians sitting on the Hill. Why do Americans condemn and rebuke a poor person trying to recieve subsidized heating oil and not Bush for pissing billions away on a fraudulent war? And let me qualify that, because I know you will ask why I call it a fraudulent war. When Bush addressed the Nation and told us that our National security was in jepardy because Saddam had WMD's, I believed what he was telling the American citizens. Since then I find his credibilty sorely lacking. He repeatedly lies to Americans and takes every opportunity to spin his crap.

Well, actually I wasn't going to.
It is starting to look as if some individuals are staying away from the Gaza question. Either because they are unsure of what the "politically-correct" answer is or because they realize their views might seem in conflict.
AG, I haven't responded yet because I don't have all my facts. But I will. :;):
Sounds like someone loves stirring up controversy.

What makes you say that? The inflammatory subject line? The "I was right" self-righteous attitude? References to Gaza strip?

Controversy? Naaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh...
Sounds more like someone can discuss the issues of the day.
Sounds more like a forum is for open debate and discussion.
Sounds more like some people understand that issues can be debated and that a debate is just that, a debate, not an argument or a controversy. If you are not equipped for this go back to whatever sophomoric thread you may best dwell in.

It must get annoying for you with those neighborhood kids banging their sticks against your white picket fence, throwing lemons at your head, and lighting bags of rocks on fire at your doorstep.

"Hey, wait! Those aren't rocks! Dagnabbit! Now I've got poop on my shoes! I'll get you, you hooligans.... I'll get youuuuuuuuuuuuu..."
all this will cause are revolts and a possible WWIII. I mean how can you just seperate all these people from their freinds, jobs and lives. Its immoral and will only cause problems. Canada is nice enough to stay as a haven for refugees kicked out of their countries.
