Not sure about Alan, bur Orson was a great and relatively popular film maker. Although Citizen Kane didn't make a huge amount of money (and isn't actually all that great) it did invent the rules for how to create a movie (a hollywood movie, that is)

I ( briefly ) saw The Alan Parsons Live Project open for Yes in 1998.
Regretfully ( when I think of it now ), I missed most of the set. I do remember hearing "Eye In The Sky" though.

Well, he unwittingly invented way of making a film which we now take for granted. For example, how a camera shot is set up, how special effects are used to increace the size of a room, etc etc.
