If Mason, Wright and Gilmour all played on Barrett's solo stuff and he was the original singer...why where they not classed as Pink Floyd.
I think when a band changes the main vocalist; it is then a different band. Imagine Nirvana releaseing stuff with a new singer...it'll be a new band. Look at The Doors...new singer = crap album.
I know that PF are great but without Syd's influence they went the way to the band the band we all know and love today. Did Waters sing on the first recordings? If so which ones. I don't really know much of PF history but, which album was Syd forced out of. When did his influence dry to succumb to Waters?

I'm going to see the doors on 10 july and there new album aint out yet, at least wait til you have heard the album before criticising it. As for syd barrett i think his solo albums are great but they aint completely finished pieces of work and although gilmour, mason and wright were involved at some point it must of been very difficult to work with syd because of his mental illness or whatever is the correct term for what he was going through, i'm so glad syd's solo stuff was recorded because its great

WOOF, to my knowledge Roger, Dave and Rick played on "Madcap Laughs" released in Jan. 1970. Dave and Rick played on Barrett released in Nov of 1970. And if I understood your question Syd sang all of the lead vocals on Piper and the last studio album Syd had any input on was A Saucerful of Secrets, and the only song he sang on was Jugland Blues although he did lay down alot of the guitar work for some of the other songs (Corporal Clegg, Set The Controls & Remember a Day)
