Is Nick Mason under-rated as a drummer? I think so, when i listen to the drums in songs such as "Mother" and other classic Floyd songs. But I've never seen him in any top 100 drummers list's or anything like that.
He's definitely underrated. Some songs are really added to by his drum and percussion work. Can't remember which ones right now (too early in the morning, not enough sleep). Have to dig out all the albums and remind myself!
he can 'bash along' with the rest of em
Absolutely. His drum work on "Sheep" is incredible.
Sheep, ah yes, I'd forgotten about that one. I definitely agree.
Final Cut sees him bashing out some cracking spunk
Agree about Final Cut. Also his drumming on the more upbeat tracks from Piper is great, and the whole of Dark Side... Never known him to do any bad drumming so far as I can remember, actually. Must be one of my favourite drummers ever. Oh, yes, and his drums on Animals, especially Dogs - top drawer.
no KEITH MOON
It's true Keith Moon was absolutely sensational on drums. I didn't think you knew the first thing about The Who, regan? Also Ginger Baker (Cream) and John Bonham (Zeppelin) are perhaps the best that ever lived. I'd like to think Mason would be in a list of great drummers, as PFOnline suggested, if there were one.
got the best of (the Who). fucking top band. shame about the bass player. nice guy.
