Ok well, he was crazy before Floyd. Syd Barrett was a schizophrenic. He did LSD, which brought it out, along with other mental problems. Syd began messing up live. He would stop playing, play random things, or sing random things. You can imagine how hard it would be to work with someone like that. He is now a diabetic, going blind (so ive heard) and paints and plants grass.

People suffering from schizophrenia do not get better. They can function while on medication, but cannot recover naturally, or with medical help. It is like a pain medicine. It takes away the pain, not the injury.

In a way is this topic [along with many others posted about Syd that I will admit to having contributed to] kinda an invasion. If Syd was dead [and he will be some day] he would, I believe, see what were all talking about and be crushed. I'm sure he would rather be remember for his music other than his illness.

I hope everyone knows I certainly meant no offense by it. I'm just trying to show another perspective. Sorry if I sounded rude to anyone. It was truly not my intention.

and the meds can only reduce the positive symptoms (not meaning good but things like hallucinations and delusions) and sometimes are ineffective. they also dont do much for negative symptoms (lack of emotion, flat response). and yeah there are very few cases where all of people's symptoms completely dissapear (while remaining on medication). it has to be caught very early.
