- AndersonCouncill - 06-18-2005 09:21 PM How can any mortal man do what PFOnline does and still balance normal life? To do research all over for news and hold up a site with only a handful of mods to help him. Everyone stop here and praise the one who has done it all and just for us! He's like Spider-Man except not really! - Steve Hill - 06-19-2005 09:46 AM I agree and would like to submit some more information for the overall website. It wouldn't be much, but it would be nice for some of us to help out and expand the site. Good on you PFOnline.
- AndersonCouncill - 06-19-2005 09:53 AM I think mods do a bit much also. I wish more non-mods would chip in (including myself) instead of starting 30 versions of the same thread. It would be a great way to give a little bit back to all the great mods who help us out. - Steve Hill - 06-19-2005 12:06 PM I don't think myself or any of the other mods do that much work. If I have a email, (telling me of a reporting pm), I will always investigate immediately. If I am online in the evening, I almost always stop by once or twice and post and/or prune. I think PFOnline does need a bit of help in other areas though. He has done a great job thus far, but the more that help expand the non-board areas, (if he wants it doing), the more chance people will find the site when looking for something Floyd related and wander onto the board too. I will ask if any help is needed and if so, what. I certainly would like to see more here. - Philintheflesh - 06-19-2005 06:10 PM Steve Hill seems to be the glue that binds this site together, without whom it would surely crumble. -That`s dedication. - AndersonCouncill - 06-19-2005 06:20 PM But without PFOnline there would be nothing. And I think you are giving Steve too much credit alone. All the moderators hold this site togethor and without eachother they would all lose and if the mods lost that would mean we lost. - Philintheflesh - 06-19-2005 07:07 PM I second that!! Didn`t mean to neglect the other mods. Three cheers to them all. - sea green queen - 06-20-2005 01:21 AM They're all cool - Steve Hill - 06-20-2005 02:45 PM AndersonCouncill Wrote:But without PFOnline there would be nothing. You will notice though that most of them do still visit on a near daily basis still and check to see if anything needs doing. They may not post, but they do still keep an eye out. I would also like to say that all members help every time they report a post or topic and we always check out anything reported, sometimes discussing it amongst ourselves too. We can't always spot these things and so you are just as important, (remember that I used to report a lot, the main reason I think I became a mod was to stop me pestering the others). I would encourage all members not to hold back on the reporting at this time either. We have a lot of new members, lots of repeating topics that need merging/closing and generally pruning and if you at any time feel that something goes against the rules or isn't right, just click report or pm one of us direct. We will always read messages and so even if we are away for a few days, this will usually return us here. Thanks for all the kind words too, you make me blush. Edited By Steve Hill on 1119307614 - Jintzey - 06-20-2005 07:39 PM - Steve Hill - 06-21-2005 02:10 PM I think a lot of people forget some of us have other commitments too, whether it be family, work, other websites or anything else. Not me at the moment, my work is the only other major commitment and I do spend some periods out a lot in the evenings too, but always try to check back here. But this topic does remind me, I haven't seen much of Kimbers of late. He last signed in yesterday, last posted on May 30th. He used to be here all the time. Anyone know of what is happening there at the moment? - dsotmoon - 06-21-2005 07:30 PM 3 cheers for PFO, I run forums myself, one just hit 550,000 posts so a hats off to all the MODs who help out here so PFO can do what he needs to do, alot of its about the people you surruond yourself with and its a great group that do it here
- Steve Hill - 06-22-2005 10:34 AM I personally am getting a little embarrassed with this praise topic, PFOnline deserves all the applause. I would also say a big thanks to all those who have donated so far, it is another big part of keeping this site alive and may get more crucial as members and bandwidth increase. Congratulations on that figure too, very impressive. By the way, I have forgotten which website you run and how long that has been going for. Sorry. :Oo: - AndersonCouncill - 07-28-2005 11:56 PM I will try as hard as I can to remember to someday donate. I promise when I get old enough and have my own credit card I will. - pinkfloydfan1 - 07-31-2005 06:48 AM to be honest considering that pfonline is the site owner there are still members that are posting a hell of a load more than him this site would be good if it had rare exibits like pics from the storm thorgeson art tour and rare pics of barret etc.. and mp3 downloads and videos would be good 2 - AndersonCouncill - 07-31-2005 08:03 AM pinkfloydfan1 Wrote:to be honest considering that pfonline is the site owner there are still members that are posting a hell of a load more than himWell, obviously the only thing he does here is handles the site handlings and news, which obviously would take a lot of time. Probably about as much time doing what he HAS to do on the site as we take doing what we WANT tod do. - Steve Hill - 07-31-2005 11:51 AM I really need start making some content myself and seeing what PFO thinks of it. He does a good job maintaining this site and doesn't always have the time to post. When you have even been away for a few days, you tend to fall behind on topics and have to catch up, so it is often a choice of being here all day, every day or leaving the moderators to the forum and the admin concentrating on the site. We all have lives, jobs and other commitments and so can't be here all the time. - King Bee - 07-31-2005 12:14 PM thank you to all the mods you guys work hard to ensure us a good site!
- Jintzey - 08-05-2005 03:02 AM Steve Hill Wrote:I really need start making some content myself and seeing what PFO thinks of it.Contributing content can also include creating smilies, for example. My humble contribution was the Santa smilie a few years ago as my holiday gift for the community since I was feeling the spirit hehe. I used the Uncle Sam smilie :unclesam: as a template to work with and drew it into the Santa (all done in MS Paint I might add, woohoo! LOL).PFOnline added the marching hammers and a Pink mask one from The Wall film (consequently removed, I assume because many people thought it looked creepy, though I thought it was ok despite the look, since it was PF related, oh well). We could sure use some more Pink Floyd related smilies. How about a flying pig or mini Dark Side of the Moon prism? Maybe a little full moon with "Pink Floyd" written on it in microscopic font? haha There's any number of Floydian icons that could be translated into little smilie-sized graphics. Let's see what you can come up with. :) - AndersonCouncill - 08-06-2005 06:41 AM An avatar of a smiley with long bangs spitting :D That would be cool! - Scream1008 - 08-06-2005 09:05 AM Quote:He's like Spider-Man except not really! lol! - paulintheflesh - 08-06-2005 10:32 AM Quote:He's like Spider-Man except not really! He could be spider-man but we may never know.... - pinkfloydfan1 - 08-08-2005 05:31 AM i started a few avatars and smilies - AndersonCouncill - 08-13-2005 12:04 PM paulintheflesh Wrote:Well if he was Spider-Man he wouldn't tell us. I think we need him around a little more at the moment to calm down matters. - AndersonCouncill - 08-13-2005 12:21 PM This is the result of a few posters (who generally are great) trying to make there point across. I try not to get mixed up as I seem to come across as a moderator wannabe. - Steve Hill - 08-13-2005 12:43 PM Not as blantently as those who say that if they were a mod, they would show us how to do the job properly. - Scream Thy Last Scream - 08-13-2005 01:29 PM thanks for that comment steve :D - AndersonCouncill - 08-13-2005 01:44 PM Scream Thy Last Scream could be a good mod. He's very unapologetic and I think thats cool of him. It reminds me of the Metallica song Wherever I May Roam. - Scream Thy Last Scream - 08-13-2005 01:59 PM im in the army, anders. id curse a lot and i would run people from this board straight away. one would be agnostic gilmour. im as straight out as the seargeant in stanley kubricks full metal jacket. i would put someone in thier place straight away. and while im at it, i want a section put on the board for norman smith. i didnt get one for bob, so im trying for pink floyds best producer. all those in favour, raise your hand please. otherwise, dont answer this post. a hand raised for norman>>>>>
- AndersonCouncill - 08-13-2005 02:09 PM Well, as long as you don't skullf*** anyone I think we'd be fine, Gunnery Sergeant Hartman. - Scream Thy Last Scream - 08-13-2005 03:07 PM okay, then.......steve hill, make me a mod of the bootleg section and see how i get on. - Jintzey - 08-13-2005 04:16 PM - Steve Hill - 08-14-2005 12:22 AM Scream Thy Last Scream Wrote:okay, then.......steve hill, make me a mod of the bootleg section and see how i get on.Er, what bootleg section? That is just one topic and you can't moderate a single topic. Anyway, I personally can't make you a moderator and I doubt PFOnline will want to, (yet at least, never at most), and to prove your worth as a moderator, you need to have posted consistantly for a long period of time and shown good judgement over any problems that have arised. |
