New Pink Floyd Box Set to be Released - PFOnline - 10-15-2007 12:54 PM ![]() New Pink Floyd Box Set to Be Released It's with pleasure that we are finally able to bring you some proper news on the much-speculated on, upcoming "Pink Floyd Mini-Vinyl Studio Box Set"! The set has been rumoured for some time, and various sites have posted information on it with varying degrees of accuracy, but we've just been given the official "nod" to reveal certain details to you of what will surely be on many peoples' Christmas present lists, including the confirmed release date and ordering details. With not just the studio albums inside Storm Thorgerson's specially designed box, even those who have the entire back catalogue with find something of interest. The main meat of the box set is the entire Pink Floyd studio album catalogue packaged as mini-vinyl reproductions all in one CD box set - much like the highly limited Japanese album replicas from a few years ago which now command high amounts on eBay! You'll get:
Each CD is a faithful reproduction of the original vinyl using original artwork, all the original inserts (posters, stickers, and the like) and LP-style dust jackets. We also understand that there will be an 20" x 30" high quality poster included. In addition, there will be a DVD in the box, which looks to feature the individual members of the band discussing the 40th anniversary and landmarks in their career. There may be some musical content also in the DVD, but like the box set as a whole, some details of the DVD are still to be decided on and an official announcement should be made soon once every element of the box set is cast in stone. Finally, that all important release date. The band's manager told us last night that this is currently looking to be December 3rd with the normal variations around the world - for example, the USA is December 4th. The perfect way to fill all those gaps in your collection, or for those who are yet to get the majority of the studio albums. With the DVD, and the very special presentation of the set, this collection (which we hear is limited to 10,000 worldwide) should sell quickly. ![]() Source: Brain Damage RE: New Pink Floyd Box Set to Be Released - TiedyeVikki - 10-15-2007 01:22 PM WOO-HOO!! This is what I've been waiting for! I am still missing Obscured By Clouds and everything before Meddle... just within the past couple years I've really started appreciating that stuff more (thanks to The Machine, gotta add that), but I've been holding off on buying anything, hoping this would happen. Well I know what I'M getting for Christmas this year... woo-hoo! By the way, PFO, you're missing Wish You Were Here on your list above... it's on the photo and it's included on Brain Damage's news blurb. --Vik

RE: New Pink Floyd Box Set to Be Released - azza200 - 10-23-2007 07:34 AM The point i was making they have lots of other rarites footage outtakes hidden away in their vaults. Its all well and good releasing a boxset of all the albums but with no extra bonus songs on the albums ala Piper for example seems a bit poor IMO. They could "re-release" the albums seperatly and do deluxe editons of the albums like Piper and similar to what The Who have done. I guess my point is that whenever they release something the first reaction seems to be...yea, but, how about this? As I said before, I'd love to see/have those other things too, but none of us have any true input into those decisions... RE: New Pink Floyd Box Set to Be Released - azza200 - 10-23-2007 11:14 AM The way i see it all we are basically getting new artwork thats it nothing new on the albums no bonus songs outtakes etc which is a bit of a rip off to some degree.

There is nothing new added here which really is annoying as another ploy by the record company to seperate the fans from their money. The band has been in this mode since the release of The Division Bell. RE: New Pink Floyd Box Set to Be Released - MF9000 - 11-01-2007 08:33 PM I thought I would share this email I received from Elusive Disc where I preordered the box set. Just got off the phone with EMI. The description we have up on our site is the most current and EMI has confirmed the interview DVD has been deleted.(they could not get artists to do it) There is only one version which is what we are listing. This project is on going and may possibly change in the future but our site has the the correct and most current info on this set. We also made inquiries to it's remastering and will add that info if and when available. Please feel free to share this information as I know there is a lot of confusion on the net about this box. Thank you! Bob Bantz/President Elusive Disc 4020 Frontage Rd Anderson, IN 46013 Hopefully EMI will put something else in place of the DVD, or perhaps compile old interviews/videos. This email is from Oct. 19. RE: New Pink Floyd Box Set to Be Released - NotNowJohn - 11-05-2007 08:57 AM Fantastic! Now I'll have to save my money for this one! RE: New Pink Floyd Box Set to Be Released - Space Cadet - 11-16-2007 04:40 AM Oh man, what good news... I don't know about you guys but this whole ordeal has my interest. Granted that I've either broken or lost or lent out half of my collection over the years which kinda bums me out, but it happens. I was having a hard time coming up with stuff I want for Christmas anyways, so problem solved. Would I be getting carried away if I said Floydmas instead?
RE: New Pink Floyd Box Set to Be Released - NotNowJohn - 11-16-2007 11:30 AM Hey Fantastic Floyd! Merry Floydmas to you! Sounds like a winner to me! Probably won't get the box set for a gift, to much money! But you never know! Goodluck! Oh By The Way - LIMITED EDITION 40th Set - Digital Animal - 11-23-2007 09:15 AM Deluxe box set includes for the first time all FOURTEEN Pink Floyd studio albums repackaged in collectable mini-vinyl style sleeves featuring the original artwork and inserts. Package includes: The Piper At The Gates of Dawn A Saucerful of Secrets More Ummagumma Atom Heart Mother Meddle Obscured By Clouds The Dark Side of The Moon Wish You Were Here Animals The Wall The Final Cut A Momentary Lapse of Reason The Division Bell RE: Oh By The Way - LIMITED EDITION 40th Set - Wings on the Pig - 11-23-2007 09:20 AM There is already a topic for this: http://www.pinkfloydonline.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=12962 RE: Oh By The Way - LIMITED EDITION 40th Set - PFOnline - 12-06-2007 02:37 PM Just found a pretty cool animation about this box set, from the official Floyd site: http://del.interoute.com/?id=3215bb77-762a-4a57-9235-b106116b968e&delivery=stream Also just realized where the "Oh by the way" name for the box set comes from... Comes from Have a Cigar: "Oh by the way, which ones Pink?" Did that not register for anyone else at first either? lol Just thought it was a random name for the box set. RE: Oh By The Way - LIMITED EDITION 40th Set - TiedyeVikki - 12-06-2007 05:13 PM PFOnline Wrote:Just found a pretty cool animation about this box set, from the official Floyd site:No, you're not alone... didn't register with me either... all I can think of is the Red Hot Chili Peppers song. And yes, it is pretty random... and stupid, because it makes it sound like an afterthought, or maybe even extra surprise bonus material, even though it doesn't follow any other recent release and there are no extras. There were so many other possible names that would have been so much better... oh well. ![]() --Vik
RE: New Pink Floyd Box Set to be Released - TiedyeVikki - 12-23-2007 03:04 PM I had pre-ordered this box set from F.Y.E. (that's where I found the best deal, $180 after a 10% off online coupon for first-time customers), but I didn't do it until the night before release (that's when I figured out that nobody was carrying it in-store). Well all this time it's been on "backorder"... and I figured my chances of ever getting it were pretty slim, considering it's limited to 10,000 worldwide and I'd read that pre-orders alone were much higher than that. Well to my surprise, I got an email the other day saying it's been shipped... WOO-HOO! Merry Christmas to me! ![]() And to everyone here (and everywhere else too) who has complained about this box set not including any bonus material... if they HAD included any extras, those same people would be complaining about having to spend all that money on material they already owned just to get the extras! Now, that said, I'm all for them doing SEPARATE release of JUST bonus material... that would be ideal. Just as this box set is ideal for someone who doesn't already own any/many Floyd albums. In my case I already owned 8 and was missing 6, so it was kind of a borderline call for me, especially since I'm told they're all being remastered and re-released separately next year (probably the reason the box set was limited to 10,000 worldwide), but I figure I can always pass my duplicates on to my son, so it still made sense for me, especially when I found the deal I found. Anyway, I'M a happy camper! ![]() Although I still say "Oh By The Way" was the dumbest title ever. I did hear one interesting theory though... since there's always this ongoing debate over who is/was the most defining member of Pink Floyd, maybe you're supposed to listen to the entire library, all neatly packaged in one box set, and ponder over "Which one's Pink?" ![]() --Vik

Midnight" - 12-29-2007 07:23 AM well, I'm having my wife buy it for Christmas for me, 'cause it does fill a couple of holes in my collection, stuff that I did have, that, "walked off," during my stoney 20's I agree, it's a bit pricey. The points others have made; about reels of stuff in vaults? i agree, that die hard Floydians would pay to have it, but as a mass market thing can't say. There is another generation of secondary school kids, much like my era, "discovering," bands of the past. My 17yr. old Daughter has quized me about countless 60-70's era bands. They trade file and facts like baseball cards. In the 80's when I was in my teens, we "discovered," all the old bands, 'cause the music was so bad. You know; Pink Floyd has manegment and consultants and all that to keep them up on trends, and just going off what I see my kids 'n friends doing, this box deal is perfect timing for one of that bracket. The complaints voiced by many of us older, wiser fans are justified, too. I'm sure at some point they will cash in those chips, too And thanks to Pink Floyd Fan 1 for the link to that swap site. When I get home to my own PC from this deployment, I plan to pillage that place

Hey, did you all know about how a "small number" of boxsets went out with a misprint on the inner sleeve of disc 2 of The Wall? The lyrics for side 3 are repeated where the lyrics for side 4 should be. And if you got one like that, you can email them for a replacement sleeve. You can read about it here: http://www.pinkfloyd.co.uk/index.php Well anyway, turns out I got one of the misprinted ones... and I'm pretty happy about it! Although I'd like to know what a "small number" is exactly. I emailed them for a replacement sleeve at the end of December... the only response I've gotten so far is an "out of office reply" from a Paul Fletcher who was away for the holidays... but I'm sure it'll come in the mail soon.--Vik

RE: New Pink Floyd Box Set to be Released - atottobc2 - 05-30-2008 12:14 AM My ever faithful dad bought me mine for Christmas and my ex-boss ordered me one. I did an A/B test of the remastered jobs and the WYWH, ANimals and The Wall remasters are the UK 1992 whereas the Capitol 2000 issues are the 1997 Sony remasters with UK art. I sold the one my ex-boss ordered and kept the one my dad got me and the one my dad got me is PERFECT except I switched wax sleeves with paper sleeves so discs don't get damaged. Best way to get discs out is to gently slide from sleeve and gently put back in. Those who want the catalog and/or albums with original art, go for it. Those who are casual fans, stay clear. I might still buy it once I'm finished school, after all my current ones might get scratched and these are probably better remasters. (I've always found that Pink Floyd albums sound like they're mixed quieter than nearly every other CD I own.) I also have a huge soft spot for mini-LP style cases. The case to Coldplay's Viva La Vida? Absolutely love it... RE: New Pink Floyd Box Set to be Released - The Third Little Pig - 07-17-2008 07:00 AM I got this boxset last week. RE: New Pink Floyd Box Set to be Released - DAT500 - 10-12-2008 01:12 AM Hello everyone, I've just joined this forum and I was wondering if anybody could answer a question regarding this boxset? I've recently bought it and on 'Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun' from 'Saucerful of Secrets' there are two weird edits around 2:30min in, I was wondering if other people have noticed this or whether my CD is faulty? Thanks for helping. RE: New Pink Floyd Box Set to be Released - kbutman1 - 10-12-2008 05:35 PM This really bothers me... if only I hadn't spent hundreds of dollars over 3 years buying every album in cd and LP format. Only two words can make me happy right now...... LIVE WALL!!!!!!!!! RE: New Pink Floyd Box Set to be Released - Jeff 2008 - 10-13-2008 06:44 PM Five words , Is There Anybody Out There RE: New Pink Floyd Box Set to Be Released - Pink Flow - 10-14-2008 11:45 PM RE: New Pink Floyd Box Set to be Released - Frog - 03-12-2009 07:48 AM The box-set is a ripoff, but I wanted to have it to go with my Doors 1999 mini-vinyl remasters set and my 2007 Led Zeppelin mini-vinyl set from Rhino. I got mine for $100 new from Amazon other sellers. It was $150 - 50 for signing up for Amazon credit-card. At $100 it is worth it. But the quality of the box-set is poor. the printing of the sleeves, cds, etc. is much lower than the previously mentioned Doors and Zeppelin sets. And it's just not my set, I compared to other copies and they are all that way. As for Floyd, it was reported last year that the BBC Floyd material would likely get released. I have bootleg cds of this stuff and would definitely buy legit releases if they choose to do so. With that in mind we could some day see Dark Side of the Moon Live in London, Top Gear Sessions, and Some live Atom Heart Mother era stuff. All of that was broadcast on TV/Radio and I think for the BBC but I could be wrong. Then there are unrelased Syd/Floyd songs that Floyd does not want released. I don't think they can stop the BBC stuff from hitting stores though. RE: New Pink Floyd Box Set to be Released - A Saucerful of Secrets - 03-18-2009 12:40 AM I would bet there is tons of unreleased material they have. Now Dave, Roger and Nick will have to decide to release it or not. RE: New Pink Floyd Box Set to be Released - Jack Wolf - 06-02-2009 12:16 PM Got my box set recently from an amazon seller, $150 new condition. I thought the box set's presentation was fantastic and the posters, stickers, and coasters were cool. Still, I wouldn't have paid more than $150 for it. RE: New Pink Floyd Box Set to be Released - mjramos23 - 10-02-2009 10:15 PM omg!!! i had all but one of those.. n all of them through out the years broke or got scratched... i would love to start all over n get this set... it would be perfact!
