El Monstero: STL Floyd Xmas Tribute - lovermyk - 12-24-2007 11:42 PM :hammers:Every xmas season in Saint Louis a group made up of members of several local bands (One a mainstream success: Stir) put on a Pink Floyd tribute show that is amazing. They do all of Dark Side, all of The Wall, all of Shine On, WYWH, a couple from Animals, and I've even heard some Final Cut. The local female singers that do The Great Gig in The Sky Rrrrawk. The vocals and music is spot-on without a generic quality that you may hear/feel from the likes of Aussie Floyd. This town loves PF, and so do fans that come from all over for the mostly sold out shows. They started doing 1 or 2 nites, and now they do 5 or 6. The lights, the Wall, the uniforms; all are here. Check it out, and if you have, drop me a line. Shine On fellow Diamonds!!! ![]()

RE: El Monstero: STL Floyd Xmas Tribute - CowCover - 01-04-2008 07:59 PM I was at the show on December 29th and it was awesome. Seems alot of folks think that el monstero is better than Aussie Floyd but I disagree. Also, in the future I hope el monstero find a bigger place to play, the Pageant was too cramped. Can't wait for next year for both el monstero and Aussie Floyd!
RE: El Monstero: STL Floyd Xmas Tribute - lovermyk - 01-04-2008 11:02 PM I have to admit that I have only seen the Aussie show on PBS, and it probably is better experienced live. Nonetheless, I have to say that for the tribute and artistic dedication, which is part of the experience itself, I prefer the seemingly less technical El Monstero. I say seemingly because these guys have learned and mastered these songs. I hope to see the Aussie show when they come again, and I may be more qualified to debate comparison. Keep in touch. Less technical=more Floydian? I guess that might be true for a brief moment in the earliest part of the Floyd's career, but one of the signatures of a Floyd show was and is the technical aspect...the production, meaning the video, lights, etc...I agree you should see the Aussies live, if you saw them on PBS chances are it's at least a 4 year old show...and for artistic dedication, they've been touring full time for 15 years or more...I'd love a chance to check out El Monstero and see what they're about so I could debate with you as well, like I said previously, it looks like a good show... In fact, this prompts me to want to explore the Australian band's show more. I must admit that, St. Louis being the rocking town that it is, the El Monstero show gets down in ways less technical than True Floyd, but only from the perspective of the fan. The show is loyal, but the spirit is a mega-nostalgia that can overwhelm. I am interested in your band, and am curious to learn about your original work. Thanx 4 the note. I will give The Aussie show more consideration upon their return to our Fox Theatre, and will also keep supporting the excellent El Monstero show.[/size] RE: El Monstero: STL Floyd Xmas Tribute - cevor - 01-05-2008 12:39 PM lovermyk Wrote:cevor Wrote:lovermyk Wrote:I have to admit that I have only seen the Aussie show on PBS, and it probably is better experienced live. Keep in touch. nice! and keep us posted here in the tribute section and we'll try to help promote El Monstero...we're all about the spirit of brotherhood between the different tributes! ps...Childhood's End's website is badly dated, the band has a new roster, but the clips will give you a glimpse of the Aussie's show...our former bassist and vocalist Ian Cattell is now the bassist and vocalist for the Aussies when they tour North and South America! RE: El Monstero: STL Floyd Xmas Tribute - CowCover - 01-05-2008 10:12 PM I encourage anyone who has the chance to come to St. Louis for el monstero. You will not be disapointed. |
