your preference to listening - only floyd - 09-02-2008 12:19 PM Do you prefer to listen to your music on your mp3/ipod, your computer, your car stereo or good old fashion Hi Fi unit complete with 100 watt plus mega speakers which shake the house. I prefer the mp3 with my trusty headphones, not the in-ear type as it gives me an ear ache, I seem to hear much more this way. Your thoughts. RE: your preference to listening - Some Other Jackass - 09-02-2008 12:31 PM The majority of the time I am listening to music on my home stereo. An average of 28 hours a week. Music on car stereos - 5 hours per week Music on the computer - 2 hours per week Music on mp3 player while performing chores 2 hours per week RE: your preference to listening - otlset - 09-02-2008 12:45 PM I prefer to place the recreation of the musical event where nature intended: in front of me at a reasonable distance, like in real life. RE: your preference to listening - Dyolf - 09-02-2008 02:08 PM I prefer to listen to music at home through my stereo but most of my listening is done in the car via plugging my iPod into the car's cassette player - nifty. RE: your preference to listening - Philintheflesh - 09-02-2008 03:02 PM In hours of listening order.... 1)Home HiFi (also sonically most preferential) 2)In-ear mp3 (use it a lot, but there can be hazzards aside from close proximity "sound source-to-ear" induced tinnitus. I`m getting my ears syringed next week, because of temporary deafness in one ear...I jump out of the shower in the morning and stick an ipod earphone straight in for my walk to work. There`s water trapped in amongst the wax...and nursey is going to flush it out! )3)Itunes to quality headphone (while on computer...handy for youtube soundbites etc. too) 4)ipod dock (A good sonic option when trying to avoid blasting the neighbours with the hifi late at night...floor-standing hifi speakers with the volume on low is no good. 4)Car Stereo (don`t use the cd player much...due to the brevity of most of my journeys, I mainly listen to talk/sport-radio in the car). QoQuaq Wrote:I prefer to listen to music at home through my stereo but most of my listening is done in the car via plugging my iPod into the car's cassette player - nifty.Wish my car was old enough to have a cassette player. I use one of those ipod converters that work off empty FM radio frequencies (plugged into the ciggie lighter). Trouble is finding unused frequencies. What seems an empty channel when you start your journey, often results in "bleeding" from some station later on...it`s acceptable though. RE: your preference to listening - Morglor9 - 09-02-2008 03:12 PM I absolutely loathe headphones. I have yet to find a pair that recreates sound properly for me. Usually too much treble, the most recent pair I bought almost seems too heavy on the bass. So. CD's, in my stereo or computer. I avoid MP3s, usually just download to preview what I'm iffy about buying. RE: your preference to listening - CamJones - 09-02-2008 04:41 PM At home: I listen to my digital collection on a nice speaker system that came with my computer. In the car: Dont have a car. but if i'm with my friends who do we listen to CDs or an MP3 player. MP3 Player: I dont know what i'd do without my iPod. I have some nice sony headphones and i listen to music when i'm walking around town, on the bus, or at school sometimes. RE: your preference to listening - Nicks Boogie - 09-02-2008 06:31 PM anywhere in my car, ipod, computer everywhere as long as i'm listening im good haha RE: your preference to listening - mikoyan29 - 09-03-2008 05:01 PM I prefer my stereo at home as it's more comfortable but probably the bulk is on my IPod at work. RE: your preference to listening - Three Different Ones - 09-04-2008 02:46 PM I usually like listening to music using headphones if I can help it, but sometimes speakers can do, if they're nice speakers. I'm not too picky overall, but I do like headphones RE: your preference to listening - Halo 99 - 09-04-2008 03:00 PM Speakers or earphones for listening on the computer. Zune earphones when I'm listening to my Zune. RE: your preference to listening - Three Different Ones - 09-04-2008 05:19 PM I hate my iPod's headphones..they're so uncomfortable...I love my iPod..but the headphones suck ass RE: your preference to listening - only floyd - 09-05-2008 08:16 AM My sony mp3 video player came with really good in-ear phones which is great for outdoors but indoors I use my trusty Sennheiser PX100's. RE: your preference to listening - Comfortably9Numb - 09-05-2008 09:24 AM when im at home i have a record player that i still use lol im old school haha but it has a MP3 jack so i hook my ipod up to it sometimes when i don't feel like having to switch records...other than that i just take my ipod where ever i go
RE: your preference to listening - Coenzym - 09-05-2008 09:33 AM When im home i use the computer and when im out i use my MP3.. But sometimes it can be fun to hear my dads old vinyl records.. :D RE: your preference to listening - Hey You Tribute - 07-28-2009 05:18 PM Stereo with a sub.... vinyl when i can acctually have the time to sit and enjoy it... RE: your preference to listening - drk229 - 07-28-2009 05:39 PM My surround sound. My God this stuff is sweet. RE: your preference to listening - Parsifal - 07-28-2009 05:48 PM drk229 Wrote:My surround sound. My God this stuff is sweet. Meh. Surround sound was better in the 1970s when they didn't ruin it with the centre/satellite concept. RE: your preference to listening - Halo 99 - 07-28-2009 07:32 PM I do have a FM radio/record/CD player (EQ and all) connected to 4 giant 120 watt speakers... The CD player sucks the cock, so I only use the turntable or radio. Everything else that I listen to that isn't on vinyl is played on the computer. RE: your preference to listening - Floydfan91 - 07-31-2009 11:11 AM I like to listen on the computer, I have 2 subs, and 4 speakers, and all I'm gonna say is Echoes from Live in Gdansk sounds great. RE: your preference to listening - FlashTheReadiesWotsUhTheDeal - 10-27-2009 09:06 PM I like hearing my stuff thorough hearphones, on the computer, or through speakers. Doesn't really matter sometimes RE: your preference to listening - Lady Floydian - 10-27-2009 09:39 PM I don't own a stereo system, I have one of those turntable/radio/cd player/cassette player/mp3 player combo thingies and I have an iPod. For the most part though, I listen to music on my computer. When I listen to vinyl, obviously I'll use my record player. I only every really listen to my iPod except when I'm traveling. As for headphones, I own a pair of Koss earbuds that I really like. They're black because I hate white earbud headphones - it looks so stereotyped. RE: your preference to listening - The Great Pig in the Sky - 10-28-2009 11:27 AM listening to music using foobar2000 on my laptop with my Grado SR60 headphones while sitting here in my bedroom is the best way. I also have my iPod and earbuds for when I'm on the go. I can't listen to stuff I really love with that setup though, it has to be on the nice headphones =) RE: your preference to listening - azimuth - 10-28-2009 01:24 PM Yeah, I'm old school. I mostly listen to vinyl at home, unless i'm lazy then I play cds or I hook up my Zune (with over 3000 songs!)to my stereo with a 1/8" RCA stereo jack. I have a USB turntable that converts vinyl to mp3. There are definitley some songs/albums that just sound better on vinyl. Ear buds suck! I never use them. They give me an earache!! If I want headphones I want the old school ones that emcompass your entire ear! In the car I plug in my Zune to the stereo or listen to cds. I don't listen to music on the computer. I find that it distracts me from what I am really doing! RE: your preference to listening - Floydium - 08-15-2010 08:23 AM Spend most of the time listening to on the computer and followed by in the car, love the bass you get in the car. RE: your preference to listening - Angelfang - 10-12-2010 06:33 PM car stereo (cds and ipod) and ipod with headphones i also really like grooveshark lately (but i mainly listen to dire straits on there cuz i don't have all their albums yet but they are amazing!) RE: your preference to listening - RadioactiveTangerine - 03-05-2011 11:40 AM I mostly listen to music on my headphones & ipod. Through I own a quite huge (less than 100 CDs) collection, I still doesn't have all the favs of mine! :) Too much to post them, and life wouldn't be enough to earn Money and buy them all. I've stereo and a rarely-used gramophone. RE: your preference to listening - Joe - 03-05-2011 01:58 PM I love headphones. I hate all kinds of speakers. RE: your preference to listening - Lady Floydian - 03-05-2011 02:09 PM You'll never have a full appreciation for what anything sounds like, especially Pink Floyd, without speakers. Headphones are great for when you want to listen to music and not disturb anyone else, or when you're traveling, but the full depth, richness, and intensity of the sound won't be heard. My dad has some real nice cabinet speakers, and listening to The Dark Side of the Moon on his record player, through those speakers, is an absolute marvel. RE: your preference to listening - RadioactiveTangerine - 03-05-2011 02:27 PM The in-ears are good for not disturbing. I can't wear them. I've too small ears for those. RE: your preference to listening - Joe - 03-06-2011 11:56 AM The in-ears are annoying. I hate sticking things inside my ear. I also hate sharing those with other people. God, so gross. RE: your preference to listening - Lady Floydian - 03-06-2011 12:27 PM I can't wear headphones other than earbuds. They're far more comfortable, and the brand that I buy gives me the same kind of sound, as if I bought the standard over-the-ear kind. Marvelous. Also, you're not supposed to share earbud headphones with people, for the simple fact that they go inside your ear. It's not sanitary. That said, if you practice proper hygiene and clean your ears inside and out every day, there won't be any issues, even if you're the only one using them. RE: your preference to listening - Joe - 03-06-2011 02:11 PM But, they're so uncomfortable. I prefer good old connected headphones. RE: your preference to listening - Lady Floydian - 03-06-2011 03:43 PM Ear bud headphones are connected headphones. I mean, you have to plug them into something for them to work. RE: your preference to listening - Joe - 03-07-2011 08:21 AM Aren't they considered as earphones? RE: your preference to listening - Lady Floydian - 03-07-2011 08:42 AM Earphones and headphones are the same thing, just using different terminology to describe them. If you Google search "earphones", you'll get results that bring back both ear buds and the over-the-ear kind. The same as if you were to Google search "headphones." It's all the same. RE: your preference to listening - Joe - 03-07-2011 01:24 PM I see...well, I don't like things that go into my ear. I prefer the over-the-ear kind of earphones/headphones. RE: your preference to listening - Culture Slut - 03-10-2011 03:51 PM Generally I either listen to my music on the go when I'm walking to work or when I'm at home on my laptop. So yeah, quality headphones are an absolute must for me. I discarded my iPod headphones pretty much instantly. They are rubbish. People only use them cos they are pretty and white. I bought some semi-decent pretty white Panasonic headphones as replacements but they're the "bud" ones and they really bug me. I never feel like they sit in my ear properly. So I bought some not so pretty black Sennheiser in-ear headphones and they were pretty good. I also had a pair of Sony over-ear headphones as I like my music big and bassy. And when they decided to break I decided to treat myself to some sexy white on-ear Sennheisers. Mm mm mmmmm. They cost but DAAAYUM they're good. #slightlyboringandunnecessarilylongpost RE: your preference to listening - Joe - 03-11-2011 02:47 AM I listen to music while I'm eating, playing, studying, sleeping, walking, in the buss, on my way back home, sometimes in class. RE: your preference to listening - forreverendgreen - 03-18-2011 02:09 AM I can't tell you how awesome it is listening to my iPod on shuffle while playing a Metal Gear Solid game. Like, I have actually have some real good memories with listening to a lot different albums while playing a Metal Gear Solid game. It's crazy. That game just lend itself so well to that sort of thing. RE: your preference to listening - Lady Floydian - 03-18-2011 07:38 AM I'm actually in the market to buy some old-fashioned type headphones, and found that Bose makes a really nice pair. I might pick them up. RE: your preference to listening - only floyd - 03-26-2011 06:47 AM Since getting my Smartphone I now use it for all my music, can listen to youtube too
RE: your preference to listening - Joe - 03-26-2011 06:55 AM I heard A Saucerful Of Secrets in my mother's car when she was away...It's a thousand times better than A Saucerful Of Secrets with headphones. RE: your preference to listening - Lady Floydian - 03-26-2011 07:18 AM (03-26-2011 06:47 AM)only floyd Wrote: Since getting my Smartphone I now use it for all my music, can listen to youtube too My sister does that. She has a Blackberry Curve. RE: your preference to listening - Cabbage Love - 04-19-2011 02:27 AM I really dislike using computers, so I hardly ever listen to music on the PC - good speakers/headphones or not. And since I'm a vinyl lover our home stereo is where it's at. But even if a high quality data file sounds exactly the same as a cd I still prefer the cd, because I like to have a physical record with cover art and all. And I don't have to deal with all the extra hassle with turning on the computer everytime I want to listen to music. |
