Booked to see Aussie Floyd, 29th July 09 - iain mchenry - 07-06-2009 07:53 AM Hi all, I managed to get 2 tickets for the wife and I at the Aussie Floyd concert at Fairfields Hall, Croyden for the 29th July. This will be the second time I have seen them this year. Does anyone know if it is a Floyd greatest hits concert or a wall concert that they will be doing? Any forum members going to be there? Best regards Iain RE: Booked to see Aussie Floyd, 29th July 09 - cevor - 07-06-2009 08:33 AM Iain, I wish I was going! I believe it will be a greatest hits type set list. RE: Booked to see Aussie Floyd, 29th July 09 - iain mchenry - 07-30-2009 12:11 PM Hi Shelly, Sorry I missed your post, I was about 3 rows infront of you in row M. A quick tour report: Song for song it was no different to when I saw them at the NIA, Birmingham in April. It was my first time at Fairfield Halls and I was suprised how small the concert arena was. There was certainly less than 2000 people there. There were'nt so many effects but the concert was absolutley super. The only snag was the hall was bloody hot! Being a small arena it was great to almost be "up close" to the band and see them play. They were all in fine form and "The Wall" was played in its entirety with: Shine on, Great Gig. Wish you were here, One of these days and Brain Damage being played after the Wall. Jason Sawford, TAPFS Keyboards, on thanking everyone for turning up made reference to the fact that it was at Fairfield Halls a few years ago that David Gilmour first saw the band. An amusing reference was made saying they still had the beer bottle he drank from! All in all, a fantastic show from the masters of tribute and I cannot wait to see what they have on the cards for next year. Best regards Iain RE: Booked to see Aussie Floyd, 29th July 09 - cevor - 07-30-2009 01:31 PM Thanks for the review Iain! Glad you had a great time, our former bassist/singer is the singer playing "Pink". On the North American tours he handles the bass and lead vocal duties, East of the Atlantic Colin handles the bass duties. I've had the pleasure of seeing them 6 times and can't wait for the next time! No one does it better! RE: Booked to see Aussie Floyd, 29th July 09 - iain mchenry - 08-01-2009 10:16 AM Hi Cevor, I must say that untill I looked at your link to Childhoods End I had no idea that Ian Cattel was part of your band. I must say I am very impressed with his singing. I normally find myself in the USA at least once every couple of years. I have an aunt who lives near Austin, TX. Does CE ever tour/play down that way? Best regards Iain RE: Booked to see Aussie Floyd, 29th July 09 - cevor - 08-01-2009 10:21 AM Thanks for asking Iain. Currently no, we're confined to New York state for now, but we aspire to be like the big boys! ![]() Ian is a founding member of Childhood's End and was with us until the fall of 2005 when he didi his first tour subbing for Colin. The rest is history! |
