I've been planing to play money at my highschool's battle of the bands in March for awhile. But while me and brother were practicing this week he suggested that we play comfortably numb because he can play the bass line perfect. I would be playing lead guitar. While everyone knows Money and it would be a hit with just about everyone, Comfortably Numb would be great as well and would probably be easy to set up. What do you guys think?

If your brother can't play the money bassline perfectly then I'd play CN. Money without a good baseline wouldn't be that good I think.

very true. if you can pull of the solo in CN then I would say definitely go with that...everyone would love it. :O

u'd be knackered if ur brother couldnt play the bassline the whole songs based around that lol

He can play both bass lines but he likes comfortably numb more because the song is slower. I'm leaning a bit more torge Money because I already know half the solo.

we have like 20 minutes I think but that includes time to set up. Plus I want to do a varity of songs but I want to play money or comfortably numb as the opening song.

you're right...I would do 'm at the end. And with that in mind I would play CN as I think it's easier and has a better ending from my point of view.

You're right. I'll do that. Last night I was looking through all my old tabs and I found the rythem and lead guitar tabs for CN so I think I'm going to play it.

Dido. You can't goe wrong with that one (always a crowd pleaser) plus with this being a battle of bands I'd say the more intense the song is the better the result will be.

Well...rhythm is accoustic...
Solo is dynacomp, Big Muff, Mistress and delay. I believe he used leslie's/doppola's too.

I use dynacomp, big muff, delay and the boss RT20 mostly.

You should check out gilmourish.com for this kind of stuff :)

Well...in my opinion money definantly isn't in my top 5 PinkFloyd songs....where as, Comfortably numb is!
so Comfortably numb is the way to go!

Oh I almost forgot! You should get some really cool lasers and fog machines! Pink floyd's onstage act is almost nothing without the killer lasers/lighting effects! rocker :ghostface: Angry :alien: hammers

this thing is past dude and the guy did comfortably numb instead if u read through the posts you will see that :P although money isnty my fave track either most people know it

What I was thinking about doing is 2 songs first I haven't decided yet then have all the lights go out then use the sound effects from the end of bring the boys back home. The music will then start and a spot light will follow one of the singers wearing a lab coat walking back and forth. Then a spot like will reveal our keyboard player as he sings and there will be a dark blue lighting that reveals the rest of the band partly. Then the lights will go to black and the 1st singer will back and forth then go back to the 2nd setting. Finally at the start of the solo the stage will light up until the remaineder of the song.

Just thought I would let everyone know that everything is going good for battle of the bands. I almost have the entire band put together I just need a keyboard player. Me and the rest of the band start practice next week. I have the 1st solo perfect with the song and 1/3rd of the 2nd perfect but I'm improvising the rest b/c it was driving me crazy trying to learn it note for note. Which now I'm having a lot more fun improving.

I would play keyboard in your band if I didn't live so far away from you. I've never performed any Pink Floyd songs in a band apart from Another Brick In The Wall part 2, which doesn't really count. I've performed Pigs On The Wing part 1 solo (I can play a little guitar) and rehearsed other PF songs like LTBML in a band, but never performed one for an audience in a band except ABITW2, which as I said doesn't really count.

Our stupid student council canceled the battle of the bands this year. It was announced near the end of last month sorry for not posting earlier. I'm really bummed about it but I did get a lot of ideas from playing the comfortably Numb solo so much and it took me places I've never been on guitar so not all is lost. Thanks for everyones input.

Wow that really sucks. I bet it would have been incredible, and if I was at anything like this, and the lights dimmed and CN started, I would go crazy. :music:
