When was it that Dave worked with The Beatles. Was he a guest on an album or did he tour as a fill-in for John or what?

- quicksilver - 03-17-2005 02:53 PM

David has never worked with the Beatles, but he has helped out his pal Sir Paul by appearing on a few tracks of his in the past. Actually, David(and Polly) was one of the few invited to Paul's wedding. He's also worked a bit with Ringo (Ringorama).

- Sigma6 - 03-17-2005 04:09 PM

just figured id throw this in, but during the making of WYWH I belive it was, the floyd went next door in abbey road studios and dropped in on the beatles while recording "fixing hole"

- The_Madcap - 03-17-2005 06:06 PM

No, that was during PATGOD, the Beatles had already split by the time WYWH came out.

- Sigma6 - 03-17-2005 06:09 PM

yeah thats right, i guess i may have too bad of a memory that i can't even remember little things like that i guess. I knew it was something like that. well thanks for at least correcting me. :)

- The_Madcap - 03-17-2005 06:43 PM

No worries, I have a horrible memory too. I hope it didn't come across if I was correcting you out of spite.

- Sigma6 - 03-17-2005 06:48 PM

No dude its cool. I just forget small things like that but not totally. just enough to screw up the information just alittle you could say. Im actuall glad you told me the right info.

- The_Madcap - 03-17-2005 06:49 PM

Yay! Anything to help a Floydie out.

- sea green queen - 03-17-2005 07:24 PM

:p :;):

- Jfloydian - 03-18-2005 04:57 AM

That's really cool, good for him.

- The_Madcap - 03-18-2005 01:35 PM

Yeah, I even heard of a theory that Syd is the one who introduced Yoko too John. I don't know what to think of that...kind of hard to believe...but you never know.

- Sigma6 - 03-18-2005 01:37 PM

wow, thats pretty cool. somebody should look into that...

- The_Madcap - 03-18-2005 02:46 PM

I doubt it is true, I'm looking for the source that I read that from.

- Sadie - 03-18-2005 05:43 PM

Sigma6 Wrote:wow, thats pretty cool. somebody should look into that...
It's not true. I've heard how John met Yoko a million times and it has nothing to do with Syd. I have read however that a lot of the strange behavior that Syd took on during that time was copied from Lennon. Or something like that. I read that at their Echoes site under one of the songs that was made on that album. I think Nick said it.

- Sigma6 - 03-18-2005 07:24 PM

Oh well, thanks though for clearing it up for us. :upside:

- The_Madcap - 03-18-2005 08:02 PM

Haha, yeah. I didn't think it was true.

- Sadie - 03-19-2005 12:05 AM

For some reason, I can't see John and Syd hanging out at all. I mean, I think they would have clashed or something. Even Mick Jagger had a hard time dealing with Lennon.
Anyway, it was Paul that sent Yoko to John. She came to him first.

- sea green queen - 03-19-2005 05:34 AM

John was a hard person to deal with, he could be called their "problem child".

- Sigma6 - 03-19-2005 08:17 AM

Yeah, yeah. I hear that. Anyone who could get people into bed for a whole week and say that THAT was for peace must have been overpowering. Haha. How did yoko deal with it? Don't get me wrong anyone because I love John and his music but as far as I know, he was an unpleasent man to be around. Just look what he said about the beatles being bigger than god at the time. Than he tried saying "That's not what I meant and I'm sorry!" Yeah well though. R.I.P John.
:music:

- The_Madcap - 03-19-2005 11:38 AM

He's not here to defend himself, so let's just talk about his music instead of what kind of person he is.

- Sigma6 - 03-19-2005 01:44 PM

Hey hey, woah.... I love the guy and I surly didn't mean to piss any one off. Sorry if I did. I love his music and I alawys will. Don't worry, I'm not trying to be offensive. It's all good anyway.
:D

- Sadie - 03-19-2005 05:14 PM

I'm sure he was no harder to deal with than any other musical genius. People who are geniuses tend to have that side to them I think. His bed in for peace was just a way of getting attention for his cause. I think he meant well.

John: "People want peace. And you've got to sell it and sell it and sell it. So we do the bed-ins and they say, 'What? They're in bed? What's this?' And all we're doing really is donating our holiday. We get tired and it's ... more convenient for us to stay in one spot than go around doing press conferences." - John Lennon

Anyway, I've never heard anyone say how could Yoko deal with him! I've heard how could ANYONE deal with Yoko a million times though. That cracked me up. Thanks.

Oh, don't worry, I wasn't offended. :D I know you weren't trying to piss anyone off.

Yeah i guess your right. We'd probably all be the same way if we were famous. And yeah, he did mean well.

- AndersonCouncill - 03-25-2005 08:45 PM

I got a quote from http://www.pinkfloyd.com by dave that says he was with the who, the beatles, and pink floyd touring. maybe it was false

Didnt he say Jesus? Or was it god...
I cant remember now that i think about it...

- The_Madcap - 03-26-2005 09:28 AM

He said "Jesus".

- Sadie - 03-26-2005 12:40 PM

The whole Jesus thing was taken out of context at the time. He didn't mean what people thought he meant.

People shouldn't take things so literal.

- Sigma6 - 03-27-2005 03:57 PM

Now a-days,every little thing anybody says is taken way too literally. You are absolutely right. But then again, that is why they make these lovely forums for for the folks who are willing to discuss topics (that are usually taken too literally) in a humane way. I feel like.... "at home" when I talk/post on this place.

I agree, everyone on this forum feels like family to me.

- Sadie - 03-27-2005 11:15 PM

Nowadays? That was the 60's and it was taken too literal. Nothings changed I guess! It is harder when you're typing though to convey a feeling. So sometimes things are taken the wrong way.

Anyway, the Beatles ARE bigger than Jesus. There's no question about that!

As McCartney once said
"There's nothing new under the sun"

- AndersonCouncill - 05-11-2005 01:43 PM

But I KNOW that he said himself at one point he subbed for Lennon.

- The_Final_Brick - 05-12-2005 05:45 PM

Who Gilmour?

- AndersonCouncill - 05-12-2005 08:01 PM

Yeah, Gilmour.

- Sadie - 05-12-2005 08:28 PM

What? Subbed for Lennon? I think he's only ever played with McCartney. Maybe Ringo, I don't know. I don't think they were friends back while the Beatles were still a working band. I wonder when he and McCartney became such good friends? I've also heard that he lives next door to Patty Boyd Harrison Clapton etc... Wonder if that's true.

- Welcome to The Wall - 06-08-2005 08:25 PM

John was right when he made that comment.

The Beatles WERE more popular than Jesus in the mid 60s. Anyone who doesn't see that has NO grasp of history. It's the truth, accept it.

Has anyone else heard The Bible According To Lennon? Its brilliant! I think it is true. I also think Jesus likes The Beatles. Life is so odd that Heaven must have style. I imagine that the gods like all sorts of music no one here would imagine is intelligent. I think they love rap today. :D

- WALL - 07-27-2005 12:33 PM

David Gimour played Electric Guitar on the Wings track Rockestra off of Back To The Egg.

- AndersonCouncill - 07-28-2005 12:24 PM

Really? Didn't know that but that was a cool piece of info.
