Mods, please move this if it is in the wrong forum.

I can play a little and I'm teaching myself. :)

- Brel32 - 10-12-2005 03:27 PM

I'm learning.

I recently figured out how to form chords and taught myself many songs i know on the guitar already. <3 keyboards.

- setbox - 10-12-2005 04:01 PM

I play all the notes making sense
:( dunno the chords

- carefulwiththataxeEugene - 10-12-2005 05:01 PM

I just started learning piano...I can play the intro to Great Gig in the Sky but don't ask me to solo.

- GRAPHITE_BLIMPS - 10-12-2005 05:07 PM

i play around on it, im not a pro though. guitar is my calling and i want to devote all my time to developing skills and style in that area.

- BusStopRatBag - 10-12-2005 05:08 PM

i can doodle
:music:

- SpitfireMkV - 10-12-2005 06:45 PM

I have keyboards and I use them to jam. Pretty much I just make cool rhythms with it. it doesn't take much skill so I voted NO.

- kevycanavan - 10-12-2005 07:49 PM

playing along with floyd on the keys or guitar is one of my greatest pleasures. i'm currently getting my tribute band together.

all i need is someone to play either keys or guitar (i will obviously play the other)

i know quite a lot of the stuff. I reacon Rick is the bands underrated secret weapon. for instance...imagine wish you were here without the sutbltle rising theme on the moogy sounding keyboard during the outro section. any time i hear that song and it's not there it gets my blood pressure up lol

even on rog's ITF where its played on piano it sounds lame.

MOOG ME!

- kevycanavan - 10-12-2005 07:54 PM

another favourite floyd moment for me is Shine on part 9. too often overlooked in both floyd and rog sets. though rog's band did play it in Dublin in 2002. fair play to them

for anyone who doesn't know Rog's band for the european leg of the tour were much much better than you get to see on the DVD. the guy that replaced DBII on guitar and vocals was amazing and actually learned daves solos. harry waters replaced jon carin on lead synth too. jons slide parts were played by the new guitar guy on his strat (the way tim plays slide)

all in all the niggling points about the DVD were all ironed out for the Euro tour. i was impressed

- FelicityKendall'sUnderwear - 10-12-2005 10:14 PM

I suck so bad. I took piano lessons when I was a kid, and I'm terrible. I can play one short, little song, and that's it. I wish I'd stuck with it.

- Spike - 10-12-2005 10:46 PM

i played for about 2 months when i was a kid i can play a little now. but my  is wit teh guitar now :)

- Romeo - 10-12-2005 10:48 PM

I can play quite well.

Here is a suite of mostly Dark Side songs. though I played small peice of dogs at the end.

http://media.putfile.com/floydsuite

Enjoy. I am learning guitar now too as I think the instrument is interesting and is more challenging than piano.

- Spike - 10-12-2005 10:56 PM

wow thats great romeo.

- Romeo - 10-12-2005 11:50 PM

The annoying thing with Piano and popular music at least with Floyd music is that I purchased for example Sheeps Sheet music, but it lacked alot of the actual notes. The intro started halfway through and ended early and then instead of playing the chords that Rick Wright plays on organ it has the chords for guitar which playing guitar with keyboard never sounds good. Then in the outro it doesnt even have the right chords completely. It has the same chords every group. They don't have it change each time like it does on the album and on guitar tabs.

I have been playing the piano for 6-7 years. I first got into keyboards about 2 years ago. I'd say I am on way to becoming Rick Wright!

- Eclipse73 - 10-14-2005 12:29 PM

I spent six bloody years in bloody music school to learn to play the bloody piano.I think I am good now.

- Philintheflesh - 10-14-2005 05:06 PM

I`ve had lessons, but I`m a bit tentative - guitar takes up my time.
It`s been a while re keyboards - I`ve forgotten a lot.
I`m ok if I avoid the black keys - this..er...can be limiting. :D

- pic3789 - 11-03-2005 02:29 PM

well i used to take lessons for like 7 years and i can still play pretty well, but don't that often because i lack the time to

- Woof Oink Baaa - 11-03-2005 06:31 PM

I've been playing for 10 years now. I can do all of Rick's stuff, which isn't all too difficult. I'm even playing all of Rick's parts in my band's upcoming tribute to The Wall, but we're still waiting on that venue.

- Metabog - 11-04-2005 09:14 AM

I used to play an organ (synth) before i took up guitar. I still have it around here somewhere and im pretty good at cause i used to play it a lot so i checked I am Rick Wright :P

just thought i would add i can play wen the tigers broke free

- carefulwiththataxluke - 11-26-2005 06:59 AM

I can't play but always wanted to learn. As a teen, Rick Wright was my musical hero of sorts. To hear the sounds he made in Pink Floyd's music was simply amazing & moving. Some day hopefuly I'll get around to learning to play (I want Shine On You Crazy Diomand to be my first song).

- Bored Person - 11-26-2005 08:58 PM

I've been playing the piano since I was five, so I guess... O_O Holy ****, I've been playing the piano for ten years?!

I've never tried but I could probably play Pink Floyd, it doesn't sound all that difficult compared to some of the Beethoven, Chopin, Brahms, or Rachmaninoff I've worked my way through (YES this is a very dorky thing to say but I think I can be proud of it here for some reason or other).

I used to play piano for about 2 or 3 years but then my teacher had to stop due to high blood pressure. And I'm not kidding about that. Plus, I didn't feel like playing anymore. I then decided to take up saxophone which was a mistake. I took about a 2-month rest from musical instruments and now I play the drums. And I'm sticking with it. They're such an amazing instrument. I know some of "Money" on the drums and most of "Pigs TDO". I'm gonna try to learn others as I progress. I've been drumming now for about 3 years and I LOVE it.

- HeyBurningGuy - 12-02-2005 07:55 PM

I know a bit of it, but nothing too ellaborate.

- snowy white - 12-11-2005 07:27 AM

i know a little..... no rick wright

- sjmcd - 12-26-2005 01:28 AM

i voted "i know quite a lot" but i'm probably close to being "i'm rick wright"

i've been playing for probably about 8-10 years but there was a gap in the middle where i didn't play for a while. up until a couple of years ago i'd only been playing written-out music but now i can improvise and even play some pink floyd stuff. in a way rick wright is my keyboard teacher as i've learned some stuff from listening to him playing.

- AgoX - 12-31-2005 01:30 PM

YES i just got the pink floyd anthology rocker

- Bored Person - 12-31-2005 11:53 PM

Is Rick Wright's music difficult? I have his stuff from The Wall and so on and it seems more like a sightreading exercise than anything else.

- Harris - 01-01-2006 04:34 AM

I can play a C chord rocker

- palmbayguitarist11 - 02-19-2006 08:12 AM

I can play a little bit of keys. If I want to learn the chords to a song, though I have to have my guitar by my side to play the scales along with THIS chord formula sheet in order to figure them out. I've gotta start working on memorizing those formulas, they're pretty nifty.

- Wright67 - 02-19-2006 09:02 AM

I've played somewhere around 7 years. I think I am somewhere in the vacinity of being Rick Wright.

- djdnl14 - 02-19-2006 05:42 PM

I can play a little bit but bass is my main area all in all i could probably lay claim to being able to play erm...4 instruments: bass, guitar, theremin and keyboards but as I said bass is my main area want to learn Sax too :D

- Joanne DV75 - 02-20-2006 10:53 AM

I used to be able to play the piano/keyboards, actually the idea of attending piano classes came out from my parents rather than me. I remember beating the air for over five years and pissing off my piano teacher (I always refused to practise at home, and, furthermore, sometimes even during classes) until I grew rebellious enough to just protest and give it up.

Well, let's just say that playing either the keyboards or piano has never been my main ambition. Just let it be for the genuine piano hotheads (Rick), I've always thought.

- john_fru - 02-23-2006 04:49 AM

I really want to start teaching myself how to play keyboards, but I just don't have the money to be able to buy one. I guess I could buy a very cheap one aslong as it has the keys on it for me to learn on, but I really want a decent one that has all those built in sounds so I do Pink Floyd style songs.

- nozga - 02-27-2006 12:43 AM

i can play some pink floyd
i can do close encounters of the third kind
rocker

- ImTheFloor - 03-10-2006 10:10 PM

I have no talent.

I mean, I can shout and beat a guitar against a wall, but I have no actual talent.

So, no.

- Joanne DV75 - 03-11-2006 12:24 PM

We've already got exactly five Richard Wrights in here. Have you noticed? How astonishing. I thought the one that played with Floyd was unique.

Or is THE Wright divided into 5 different entities?
Y'know, the 1st one plays a gig, while the 2nd one is having a drink backstage, the 3rd one is having rough sex with his wife, the 4th one is visiting the toilet and the 5th one is having a nap on a comfy sofa in his hotel room.
