hey guys. i just started playin about a year ago and recently ive been trying to play some bends.. when u guys first started did u have trouble like hitting other strings on ur way up and them ringing? cause that seems to be the prob. when i take the string down the others dont seem to ring but if i try upwards they produce sound..and if u did have probs like this does it go away after u practice them over and over?

er i don't understand yer problem, but make sure u bend up with the fleshy part of the finger, keeping yopur nail out of the way. always bend up (towards yer head) rather than downwards. practice basically :)

thanks for the tip. my problem is that lets say im bending the B string at 7th fret and no other note is supposed to be having any sound. on my way up i might bump the G string or when i release the bend and on my way down it would let the G string go too fast cause it was being bent too and make a sound... if that helps any ??? sorry if i cant describe it better.

u will wpush the g up, but if you make sure u do so with the top of yer finger, the g should not sound. release the note smoothly, so it is cushioned :)

dont pluck the string down, just gently release it. if not, just use slides :)

I have the same problem, although not as bad as when I first started. I'm still rather new at playing (started last november), so I'm guessing good technique will come with time and practice. You should concern yourself with judging where your bends are going first though. What I mean is, try to learn specifically how to bend a half step, then a whole step, then one and a half steps, etc... I did not do this, and when I bend it sounds like ****. I need to work on it :(

i think a good solo does not need any bends - they are oasis-style lazyness
