RE: Album Rankings - How do you rank Floyd?
You're stating your opinion as a fact.
IMO, the early Pink Floyd was the best era.

8. Animals/Obscured By Clouds
9. Careful With That Axe Eugene/Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun
and the rest of their Discography doesnt matter.
Looking at this record I think Pink Floyd tried all the WRONG ways to make music in the beginning, then did some experiments and found themselves with Wish you were Here. And their last 3 albums are Godlike
Careful With That Axe, Eugene and Set The Controls For The Heart of the Sun are not albums, they're songs.
I happen to think all their albums matter, even the ones I don't care for much, but that's me. I can't discount anything they've done even if I don't like it, because it has meaning to someone, somewhere.....and that's what they wanted. *shrugs*

I agree. And on a personal level I can say that while I don't care for the last two albums, musically, they're still very important for me personally. Delicate Sound of Thunder was the album that got me into Pink Floyd in the first place, and obviously without A Momentary Lapse of Reason there would be no tour to record.
And then in '94 I went to see them live in Gothenburg. A great experience that would not have happened if they didn't have a new album.
So, both these albums mean a lot to me even if I don't like the music all that much.

Same here. :D I got to know Pink Floyd when I was 10, when my teacher played a few songs from A Momentary Lapse of reason in class to show us the music. I don't like it all very much, but thee nostalgic value for me is pretty high.

I think its important to try to not be ignorant about the older albums and realize that there are songs that are like pearls incased in shells, at the bottom of the ocean....
Roger Waters - The Wall Live. December 12th, 2011. Second Comfortably Numb guitar solo= best moment of my life!

I know those two tracks are not albums, but from that album I like only them.
The Pink Floyd Sound
Quentin Tarantino's Direction
Greeneyed Brunette Made me Sad
Protection: Sarcastic Infection
The Good The Bad And The Ugly
The Piper at The Dawn Of Time
Relax from being neurotic
then Do it the other way Around
Truth is the biggest wealth you got
Three men inside my head
Dont ask me why, I have no clue
I've Been Around Since The Late 80's

RE: Album Rankings - How do you rank Floyd?
The ranking is rather difficult, but coming from the times when I was listening as a child to Ummagumma and Meddle I'd do the following:
1. The dark side of the moon
2. Meddle
3.Ummagumma
4. Wish you were here
5. Animals
6. The paper at the gates of dawn
Don't forget the solo lp's from syd barrett............................
