i don't use this forum much, but i must have a little mini rant.

on youtube, and I'm talking live C/N solo's here. there's a division of Pulse fans and delicatesoundofthunder fans, all going on about which is the best version, and poor me is having trouble telling them the facts that neither pulrse or DSOT are great when compared to the mighty VENICE 1989 version, but the guys aren't listening properly and still arguing over pulse/DSOT.
obviously the real rubbish live version is the Wall Berlin 1990 version with 2 nobody's i've ever heard of. not even 2 slighty good guitarists can replace the 1 man Dave G!!

anyway. it's true thought isn't it? the Venice 1989 version IS the best. Fact. listen to all the agression in it. Pulse version goes on for way too long.

I love how you have a go at people merely stressing their own opinion, and then go on to use the same thing to your apparent advantage. And one of those two 'nobodies' is Snowy White, excellent guitarist for many of the late 1970's Pink Floyd tours. Get your facts right mate . . .

I believe the other Guitarist is Bryan Adams who also sung and played Young Lust at The Wall Live in Berlin.

I don't think it was Bryan Adams. He's not that good.

Anyway, the best version is the one on Live 8 in my opinion. Although he plays quite a lot of mistakes in it, it really sounds fantastic. My second and third favourite would be the Berlin version and the studio version.

Edit: Just to illustrate how awesome Adams is: He mimed the guitar solo in Young Lust.

Arriving late to the party I know, but if someone feels the PULSE solo is the best, let them. It doesn't alter the world spinning on its axis, does it? Same if they feel the version on DSoT is better. Or any version of the 2nd solo that they've heard. David never played it the same way twice, so there's many different versions out there to listen to.

I'm a stranger to this thread on the subject of the different solo's because I havn't the different solo (probably should!) but to clairy it was Snoewy White and Rick Difonzo who did the duo solo for Comfortably Numb. Also Bryan adams did Young Lust (singing/playing guitar) and he also did EmptySpaces/What Shall We Do Now.
