Breathe, Time, Money, Us And Them have to be the highlights, but what makes the album so great is the seamlessness of it in its entirety - musically and conceptually. What a great journey it is. Amazing they can metaphorically transport you so far in around three quearters of an hour. Magic.

Most PF albums are all of a very similar length though some have far more tracks than others. Most range 42-47 mins. Atom Heart Mother is over 50 mins, while Division Bell is over an hour. Obviously the double albums tend to be longer still at about an hour and 20 mins. Pulse must be a little longer still.

I think 45 mins is about the ideal length for an album. A lot of skill goes into saying everything that you have to say in that space of time without having to compromise. I think Dark Side is about as close to perfection as any musical project ever could be, so I wouldn't choose to lengthen or shorten it all myself.

Dark Side... best concept album ever? Surely it's better than The Wall.

Is that Gabriel album you mentioned a concept album or not? Do you think Dark Side is a better album than The Wall?

err.....sort of - it's the soundtrack to The Last Temptation of Christ. so the concept is... the divinity and humanity of Jesus

Ah, yes, so it was that Peter Gabriel album you were talking about. Last Temptation Of Christ. Interesting concept, the dual natures that Christ consisted of at the same time - one human and one divine.
