According to Top Gear on BBC2 they did have it in. They featured a car from the movie and (because Jeremy Clarkson is a Floyd fan) they played Atom Heart Mother in the background and James May said AHM was in the film. Were they mistaken?

I know that Pink Floyd hate AHM themselves, so maybe it was because of that that they didn't want anyone to use it. Rick Wright once said that the album - particularly the AHM overture - made him cringe.

From what I hear, Kubrick wanted unlimited rights to edit the song and use only certain portions...that seems to me a reasonable request, but the band turned him down (they later regretted this decision).

So no, it's not in the film (the record itself, however, is visible during the scene at the record store...maybe Kubrick felt this was the next best thing, or he snuck it in as a jibe at the band).

If it ain't dirty, don't clean it.

Spot on, although I tend to agree with the band on this one, it would be like someone asking Da Vinci if they could use the image of the Mona Lisa, but edit it how they see fit. Either you want the original, (in full or shortened parts), or you don't. Even if it was unchanged, I would still have some reservations about allowing others to use it.
