I totally agree, Today's generation is hopeless (except for a few, like me)

And, yes people today can be Floyd-lovers, just because they weren't around when Pink Floyd was around, and they haven't seen them live does not mean that they are ignorant of Pink Floyd.

True, some teenagers these days are wearing Dark Side shirts just because everyone else is, and most people think that "A Brick in the wall part two" is called "We don't need no education", and most people these days think that Pink Floyd is one man, but that doesn't mean that Pink Floyd have lost their following.

Like Shakespeare or The Beatles, they were amazing and universal and will be respected forever.

I read people here talking about how rap is a load of crap, but have you actually tried listening to some of the 'proper' rap, and not what you see and hear on MTV? Try listening to the likes of Tupac, Nas, Eminem etc. and you will see that th lyrics are just amazing. How they spit the lyrics, as well as how they are constructed. IMO, Eminem is a lyrical genius. Bob Dylan would agree with some of the points I have made!

I like both Rap and Pink Floyd, they are both brilliant, but I like each for different reasons. There is no denying that Pink Floyd are genius, but at the same time, I can say that Eminem is a genius.

Some of you really need to open youe ears and appreciate the fact that there is a lot of good quality music out there which doesn't have the Pink Floyd name on it.

At the end of the day, to each their own.
I am you
And what I see is me

I've said that time and time again. Time and time again. Right down to comparing Em with Dylan in social conscience.

Our tribute band recently performed "The Wall" in it's entirety at a beautiful theatre in Syracuse,NY.. We were thrilled (tickled pink) by the number of teenagers in the audience, some with parents in tow, some in groups on their own. I hadn't seen that many PF t-shirts in one place since the last PF tour!...:-)...I think the "younger fans" are knowledgable and enthusiastic.....as a "older" fan at 48 years old I've got nothing to say about what younger people listen to now, it's not made for me and I would just choose to to "change the channel" rather than "hate on" the music as the kids would say....lol....by the way, they were the only ones crossing their arms in the air during In The Flesh and Run Like Hell...:-)...one of them even commented on it on our forum page

And now the final solution can be applied.

Tell me, do you think Em is similar to Dylan in that they both committed career suicide? Are you an Eminem fan? I am intrigued.

Also why did you put "I am Relic, And what Relic sees is you" in response to ovesrogerw's post?

Because my upper post quoted Echoes to you, and therefore if I am relic and what Relic sees is him than I see him in me and therefore I can relate to what both of you ares saying

The Fallen Hero Wrote:Well, im 14, huge Floyd fan. Many many people I know like Classic Rock and play instruments and stuff and are Floyd fans. Sure, my generation will ruin the world, but I'll have Floyd playing as I watch the news and see it happening before my very eyes. Ive converted people, and have built a rep for the biggest Floyd fan in town. "True" Floyd fans have to go through me now before being called "true" fans. Boy do I love Pink Floyd, he made such good music.... Angry
I always knew I wasn't an only child! You are obviously my twin sibling (granted it's not hard to be a town's biggest Floyd fan when the population of that town is 550)! That sad thing is, I've actually converted several people in my school to Pink Floyd, but they like for the wrong reasons. i.e. they like Bike because it has a "funny ending", they like Not Now John becuase of its R rated lyrics, they like Money becuase it starts with the sound of cash registers, etc, etc... They don't like it because of the phylisophic lyrics or the intricate guitar work, or the celestial chords. They like it becuase, compared to their homogenized, radio-friendly rap, pop, and R&B, Pink Floyd is wierd to them. Anything more than a 3-chord, bass driven, obscenity ravaged pop song isn't smart or groundbreaking or anything of the like. It's just wierd. That to me is very, very sad indeed.

A new Machine, that is sad, that is what is bad about out society today, everyone's all about the lyrics. DON'T YOU PEOPLE SEE?!! It's not about what one says in a song that is the most important, it's the music. Certainly, some songs would not be as good without lyrics, but they are just the icing on the cake. When people ask me
"Why don't you like this song? They said this."
Yes, well, but the music sucks.
"So? the lyrics really speak to me."
Well, that's nice, but the music makes me want to vomit.

and then the person just walks off, most of the time.

Grrr... Then I zap them with my laser beam eyes Angry

When I chat with my friends about music,I can hear some really funny stuff. For example, when I mention Floyd, they usually say:Well, they're not bad,but they are too slow,I can't dance.Imagine that! And when I tell them well,ok,you listen to Floyd and dance with smth else, you are not gonna dance in your house, arent you,and than they say ok,but dancing, jumping is what's music all about, isn't it?This generation is corrupted!Jumping!?My God!
