"Who played the synth?"

That depends on the album.

Dave and Roger played the SynthiA on DSoTM and Dave, Roger and Rick played VCS3s on DSoTM.

Dave played all the synths on AMLoR and most on TDB. Dave and Rick played them on WYWH, I think Dave probably played them on ANIMALS and TW as well.

Um, David and Rog did some textural synth stuff, and I think that it's only them on "On the Run," but most of the actual keyboard PLAYING, synth or otherwise, is Rick.

If you hear a synth lead on the classic PF albums (example: Dogs, Every Colour, Shine On, Run Like Hell) then it's almost certainly Rick--NO-ONE plays lead synth like him. Even Jon Carin, a very talented individual who has played with both Floyd and Roger Waters for a long time, can't really pull off that creepy tone that Rick gets. I love Roger's live version of Dogs, but compare it with live boots from the Animals tour, and you'll hear the difference.

The fact that David and Roger added to the texture with some synth touches here and there shouldn't be confused with the fact that the vast majority of the actual playing was by Rick Wright. Even on The Wall, in which Rick (for the first time ever) didn't play most of the piano and organ parts, he still did a lot of the synth, and all of the synth leads. As for TDB, you had that weird synth lead sound back again (think Keep Talking or Wearing the Inside Out for some obvious examples), which you simply didn't hear on The Final Cut or Momentary Lapse, or on Dave or Roger's solo records, for that matter. Why not? Because Rick didn't play on TFC and barely played on Momentary Lapse, and Dave and Roger simply cannot play synth like that themselves, and neither of them would claim otherwise. If they could play synth like, you'd hear them doing it on their solo albums.

Give credit where credit is due-Rick Wright is the man.

As for calling the poor guy above a "poseur," whatever--he's just trying to get some information.
