Morglor9 Wrote:@ Sydney: I can see what your saying about us not knowing much about what these people listen to, but the difference is that we (or at least I, but I think it's true for the rest of us) wouldn't pretend to be a fan of something we didn't have a clue about. I have no problem with people not knowing Floyd, it's a personal taste thing. I do have a problem with someone wearing the shirt, which should mean that you know something by the band. At least a couple songs! That's the thing. I wear Floyd shirts, but I know Floyd. I'd never wear a shirt for, say, Alexisonfire, because I don't listen to them.
Of course, your point about making a new fan is good, I'm sure I've got a couple people at least considering the band.
But my whole point is does it really matter? If you all get upset over someone wearing a shirt then you all have a luxury of extra energy that I do not have. I mean the way I look at it is that once again, it is free advertising for the band. Why do think they made those shirts? Do you think it is so loyal fans could be able to identify other loyal fans? Not really, it's so that they can be promoted-and be paid for it. And also I look at DSOTM shirts as partially a exhibition of Pink Floyd's art work. It's not just about the music-but also the iconic image.

LOL! Bugger!
I was referring to Morglor9 posting :Oo: after it. I got the impression (unless I am now missing the sarcasm) that the point was missed.
Thanks for the pat on the back though, I'll take them any time I can as I really am an ego driven megalomaniac.

Ah, no. I got the sarcastic reference. And I get what your saying too, Sydney. I'm just saying I disagree with you. I don't get angry about it at all when people wear the Floyd shirts, and I didn't mean to come off that way, if I did. For me, wearing the shirt is like hanging a poster in my room... I'm not going to hang a poster of something I don't like or don't understand, and I think most people wouldn't either. So why do differently with the shirt?

Actually I have to agree w/Radio Slaver, people will come up to me and reference some "new" band...(Remember, last "new" band I saw or bought the record was Velvet Revolver, so that really doesn't count, before that, probably Nirvana!)...and I won't have clue 1 as to what or who they are talking about..I don't listen to commercial radio, watch MTV ect. so If there was some new band called say "Jimmy Jazz"..I'D probably say, who's he?!!!

I orginally didn't like the subject of this thread but I have had a change of heart. Within the past few weeks I have noticed many people sporting Pink Floyd t-shirts. I doubt any of them are actually fans but since that wannabe grunge and rock look is in style, these t-shirts are flying off the racks. I'm offended by this.

Yes but don't judge too fast... I see a lot of that too and it pisses me off but I try not to let me because I'm sure when people see me with my much loved Floyd shirt they judge and think I have no clue who I am supporting with my shirt.
But yeah.. it's kinda annoying that the rock look is in and has become a trend because now you can't tell the "real" people from the "fakes."

Exactly. I just wish there where no fakes in the first place. Like people who wear a Darkside of the moon shirt just cause it looks cool. Either your a Floyd fan, or not.
