Atom Heart Mother and Echoes - time

Okay, so.... Pink Floyd has 2 songs over 20 minutes: Echoes and Atom Heart Mother. They both hav times within 15 seconds of each other. Did Floyd do this on purpose? lol its just one of my stupid little conspiracies. I have alot of those so get used to it. :blues:

I doubt it. If anything, they were probably playing to the constraints of vinyl. I like to think of it as just screwing around aimlessly on AHM, getting it out of their system(like a practice run of sorts), and then just totally outdoing themselves and blowing us all away with "Echoes".

As whong said, it's probably got a lot to do with the limitations of vinyl - they were probably trying to make the songs as long as possible without ruining the quality on the vinyl cut, and the best length to do that is around 23-24 minutes.

Well, they could have made an 80-minute song on a CD, or even a song several hours long on a dual-layer DVD.
