In my History of World Terrorism class we were studying Extremism in America and one of the groups was called "Hammerskin Nation" which was born from "The Wall" they took the fascist part seriously...check it out its pretty ridiculous.

Wow that's pretty crazy. I never knew anyone ever took it that seriously.

Think I saw that on Wikipedia a while back. A lot of the lyrics in The Wall (especially RLH and ITF) sparked some anger by people who couldn't catch the satire. It's sad to see people take something like this and turn it into something evil. For instance, I think there was a serial killer or a cult or something like that based off Maxwell's Silver Hammer.

People who are ignorant that it is actually satire give Floyd fans a bad name. I've had more than a few make comments about not liking PF because they were racists etc based on The Wall and then wonder about me because I love the band so much, even when I try to explain it to them. Some people will just never get it no matter what.

Roger discusses this in the documentary that's on the DVD for The Wall (movie). I actually got an ideea to write a book that's based on something similar to this, and I plan to start writing as soon as I have time.

Keep us informed about the book. It should be really interesting.

Spoilers... :D

Yeah I have the main plot down on paper already. It's about a prog rock band evolving over almost two centuries (because lifespans increase dramatically in the next century). While learning about their career (that even survives a world atomic war), you get a detailed representation of the evolution of the human race, and the band's impact on the culture of the time, and also on a sinister organization hidden in the background that has adopted symbols and motifs inspired by the band.

Something along these lines.
