Tonights show covers Art & Prog Rock with interviews and clips of Syd era Floyd and hopefully beyond.

Peter Gabriel fronting Genesis wearing a fox's head. David Bowie in eyeliner doing Marcel Marceau-type mime. The Velvet Underground playing while an Andy Warhol film flickers over them. Yes, this week we have a good wallow in rock at its most arty. Knowing, as we now do, how up-itself art rock eventually became (there are hints of Spinal Tap throughout), it's easy to forget what a breath of fresh air Syd Barrett was in 1967, when his whimsical songs launched Pink Floyd on the world and heralded rock's flirtation with the avant garde. The programme manages to make it all fresh again, thanks to consistently brilliant clips (take a bow, archive researcher Declan Smith) and dreamy editing. They've also got everyone important to talk: Bowie, Gabriel, Lou Reed, David Gilmour, Brian Ferry - they're all here, older, wiser and happy to strum a few goose-pimpleinducing bars of their early hits. Whether as a primer for today's youth or a trip down memory lane, this is hard to beat.

It was good. I liked Bowie saying that he's a big Syd fan.
I miss Syd.

Is it just me, or does everyone think that Dave takes a long time to say anything?
