Who wrote CWTAE?

Is it a 'Barrett era'? song?

Is there a studio version (not the live version from 'Ummagumma')?

What is it about?

PS: It's a great song! :music:

Yeah, the studio version isn't very good.

BTW, the song's writing credit is listed as "Waters, Wright, Mason & Gilmour".

The Pompeii Version is nuts. Even though I have ummagumma, I havent really listened to CWTAE. Does Roger do the crazy wispering on that one too? If so, I'll have to get on that right away.

the song was originally titled Keep Smiling People when it was written. it was first preformed live in May of 68 and was suppossed to be part of the film, The Committee, but the version recorded was horrible according to the bad, the next time it appeared it was called murderistic Woman and was recorded in Aug of 68 on Top Gear, from then on it evolved into the song you hear today

oh and one theory is that in the early 1960's there was a small serial killing spree in the area of London near the river Thames. After three or four murders, a suspect was caught. That suspect's name was Eugene Craft. He was tried and found guilty. Hence, "Careful" might be a reference to that incident. But Floyd to my knowledge has never adnitted where it came from
