Which version of Paint Box do you prefer? The shorter version on Relics or the full version on The Early Singles? I recently heard The Early Singles version and I was happy.

Is the Early Singles version the same one that's on the new Piper remaster? If so, yeah, that version is even better than the one on Relics--seems more dynamic and harder-hitting--Rick and Syd's vox are both louder, and there are some trippy backwards effects and whispering vocals that you can't really hear in the Relics version. Again, the mono version turns out to be better than the stereo version. And, yeah, it's a great song in any incarnation.
