Open Letter to Roger Waters

There is no dark side of the moon, really. As a matter of fact, it's all dark.

They have invited Roger to respond. No news yet.

leave the man alone he doesnt have time to deal with such non sense as this. Hes trying to work on stuff to make the fans happy and you gotta through some bullshit in face. shit maybe its you who should of been spat on.

he made 80 million on tour. why doenst he donate that
blah blah blah
who cares atleast he did the fans a favor and did the tour.
he had some real estate and sold it does that mean he has to donate it. Gilmour did on a 6 million dollar house but roger has giving countless time to the african fund and it was roger who called dave for live 8 was it not?

Seriously, get a life. Point a mirror at yourself and ask these same questions. You're just another Bush apologist using your right to say anything you want to ask another man NOT to say what he wants. Really, at the heart of it, you just want Roger Waters, a native of Great Britain, to respect the President of the United States of America and neither he nor anyone else is under any such obligation. Yes, we should all direct our attention toward Roger Waters and not at George Bush who has severley fucked this country up. Look at mortgages, health care, & stocks and don't forget the fight for 'freedom' which is happening in Iraq. If you have such issues with Roger, get off this board and hurry over to the message board of the musician who doesn't give a crap about anything. Actually, you may find such musicians listed under Roger's name on THIS VERY BOARD. And while you're at it, take that DSOTM quote off your signature and replace it with a Bushism. You're not worthy.

May be I am wrong, but I feel like you pointing fingers at me, thinking that I have sent this letter.Biggrin I have nothing to do with this letter. I am not Joe McHugh.
This is just a letter I have taken from that site and put here. It does not mean I agree or vice versa.

Be polite please, about the things you don't know.Angry

I've read that letter before--in fact, I think someone posted it up on this site a few months ago.

Anyway, it's just laughable, trite nonsense, full of straw men and red herrings, and huge leaps of logic. I especially love the part where the writer asks him if he'd like to live under Sharia law, as if Roger has ever, in any shape or form, advocated any kind of fundamentalist religious government. Sheesh, what utter irrelevant nonsense.

The parts about capitalism also crack me up: Roger is a social democrat, not a communist--he's critical of capitalism, but he's never advocated that it be destroyed. (ironically, New York, which may be the world center of capitalism, is also one of the most socialistic parts of the US). There is no contradiction there, not unless your brain has gotten soft from too much talk-show radio.

RE: Open Letter to Roger Waters
I think it's pretty clear that Mr. McHugh is no fan of Roger Waters. If he has aware of Roger's political views and his lyrics, why then did he go to his concert? I know exactly what I'm going to get when I listen to Roger Waters music so I guess that makes me a liberal leftist too. In case Mr. McHugh didn't notice, Mr.Waters works pretty hard for his wealth and puts up with a lot of B.S. I'm not a wealthy person, I work hard for my money and barely make ends meet sometimes but I vote in every election and I agreed with the pig. I can think of a lot of other things to spend 10 trillion $ a month on in this country Instead of some hell hole half way around the globe. By the way, he didn't win it, he stole it.

You can disagree with a performer's political views and still be a huge fan... for example, I'm a longtime Merle Haggard fan, who USED to be right-wing (Bush seems to made him a left-winger!). Similarly, I know right-wing people who love PF, and they have long accepted that they are just not going to agree with Roger's political lyrics.

But, what cracks me up about all these people bashing Roger recently is that many of them act like this is something new. If they didn't figure it out with DSotM and Animals, The Final Cut and Amused to Death should have made it crystal clear. Either they weren't paying much attention to the lyrics... or they are just pretending to be old fans.

The only other possibility is that they are FM radio listeners who heard the popular Floyd lyrics on the radio, never listened to the lyrics much, and went to the show not knowing what to expect.
