Question Have you or any members of your family been in the military?
With the holidays upon us, I see a lot of tv stations are showing troops stationed overseas, sending messages to their families back at home. It's sad to see, and I've got to thinking about what a great sacrifice they're making. I don't have anyone whom I know, that is currently in the military. My late grandfather was stationed on the second USS Sampson, back in WWII. I'm interested in hearing about other people on this board, who have family members, or who have themselves, been in the military. Please don't make this an anti-war thing; I just want to give a shoutout to those making sacrifices. It's a tough job, and I wouldn't want to do it, especially during the holidays.Santa

My Father was a Marine Corps colonel from 1946-1948. He also served in Korea from 1950-1952.

I served in the United States Navy 1975-1981. My dad served in the US Marine Corps during WW2.

My father was in the Army and spent time in Korea in the year of 1947. He helped with the construction of the Kempo airport as well but did not see battle of course.

both of my grandpas served in the korean war. And my Great Uncle, he was almost killed. Out of the whole batallion, he was one of 7 that were not killed or wounded.

Youre one of a kind. Just like everybody else.

my Grandfather drove a tank in WWII in the Fourth Armored Division, Third Army under General Patton, and my uncle served in Korea, but he never spoke much about it, Grandaddy never mentioned the war until I was @14, then he'd tell me all kinds of stories, about D-Day, Normandy, etc. I still have his war books and maps showing where he fought.
