Gilmour/Samson - "On the Day The Wall came down/The Ship of Fools had finally run aground""...mmhh, well it`s not as generic as "war is bad..love is good"...but I`d argue that they lack a certain personal vision.


David and Polly do tend to play it safe with their lyrics. Unfortunately
they do wear thin after awhile. Good lyrics and good poetry are very similar in that you should be made to think and analyze the content. As much as I like David Gilmour, I don't have to do that with his solo work.
