RE: AMLOR- An underrated album
hehe, I've found a somewhat "synchronization" between Yet Another Movie - Round And Around - A New Machine (Part I) - Terminal Frost - A New Machine (Part II) - Sorrow and the last 3 or 4 chapters from the last Harry Potter book Biggrin that was interesting

Do you mean to suggest that characters from both A New Machine and Harry Potter are gay by some media reports?

(wow. where did that come from?)
did anyone find this amusing?
check yes or no

RE: AMLOR- An underrated album
How about this then.
Some Other Jackass goes to see the doctor and says, "Doctor, doctor it hurts when David Gilmour goes like this -
'Was it love, or was it the idea of being in love?
Or was it the hand of fate, that seemed to fit just
like a glove?
The moment slipped by and soon the seeds were sown
The year grew late and neither one wanted to remain
alone'

The doctor says, "Then don't go like this."

First of all, I have nothing with you; second, I was not talking about One Slip and third I figured out already that you don't like the post-Waters era albums and Dave's solo albums.

Please stick with stating opinions and thoughts, stand up is not your forte...
And now, back to the thread.

And now the final solution can be applied.

floydcrazy Wrote:I am just finishing up listening to AMLOR. Its the first time I've listened to it the whole way through. I have to say that it is pretty solid. Its not like their other stuff, and has that 80's beat to it. I think its pretty good and underrated by a lot of people. It's not near my favorite PF albums, but, its not a bad album.

It starts out well, with that watery sound with signs of life. Learning to Fly is a great song with a great beat. The Dogs of War isn't a terrible song, but it is odd. One Slip is pretty good, with good singing. On The Turning Away is a solid song. Yet Another Movie has a slow, dark churned sound. A New Machine(Parts 1 & 2) is ok. Terminal Frost is not bad. And Sorrow is ok.

Overall, I think this is a solid album. Its not in the caliber of there other stuff, and I'm fully aware that Roger is not in the group. What are your takes on the album?

Its a good album, but it was nearly a Gilmour solo effort, since Rick and Nick were so incapacitated at the time.

Rest in peace, play some great gigs in the sky

The irony is that by calling it underrated, you're overrating it.

I know I believe in nothing but it is my nothing

RE: AMLOR- An underrated album
It's a fairly good album, but it's one of my least favorite Floyd albums. And, it's definitely more of a David Gilmour solo album than a PF album. (Then again, TFC is more than a Roger Waters solo album than a PF album, too.) "Sorrow," in particular, is a pretty good song, and it really became great live.

The production does bug me. Not as bad as "Radio KAOS," mind you, but 80's production really blows sometimes.
