Paranthetically, I don't agree that a bad Pink Floyd album is better than many bands' best. In fact, I'd say that a bad Pink Floyd album is much, much worse than many bands' mediocre stuff. I'll go one further and say there are a fair number of bands whose best stuff is better than the best Pink Floyd album, whatever that might be.

I have to agree with the last bit. Floyd are my favourite band, but we, as fans, must all see that many of the albums are not brilliant. There is some mediocre stuff, probably more than most bands, mainly because the band were busy experimenting with other things while finding their feet.
