David's Song, "Marooned,"
I just watched a file on "youtube," with David Playing," Marooned," with some band, perhaps his? I don't know, but his playing was so well done, the backing band was, "ok," but his melodic solo's pulled it together, for the most part. He is such a great guitarist, in the rock mode....

My favorite solo song of HIS, "No Way Out of Here," the live versions of it are sloppy,( the backing band.) but it's the best "song," he's done, I don't know who wrote it, but it's DEEP......

God, I ask you, with humility Rolleyes PLEASE, just ONE more chance to see Dave play w/without 'Floyd, I don't care anymore, I just want to watch him do his thing, one more time. ARTIST Walkman

I also saw footage, of him playing a Les, with a Bigsby on it, WHAT'S UP WITH THAT?? I guess, if Dave and I were "cool," I'd ask. Were not, so I can't.

I guess, this thread is about how much I enjoyed the version of the song, I voted wrong in the poll. Whistling oh well, I'm drunk, too Turned

The grass was greener
The light was brighter
The taste was sweeter
The nights of wonder
With friends surrounded
The dawn mist glowing
The water flowing
The endless river
Forever and ever.

I believe the version of "Marooned" you speak of is the 50th anniversary of the Fender Stratocaster concert from 2004. Yes, I too love this version of "Marooned", far better than the version on the PULSE DVD.
I also wish he'd done it on his '06 tour because it fits so well with the "On An Island" theme.
That wasn't his backing band for the show, it was the house band, except Phil Manzanera, who had played before Gilmour took the stage.

Also, he used an LP+Bigsby a lot on the OAI tour for playing "This Heaven" and maybe another song, I can't remember.

I thought the backing band in that Strat Pack dvd was awesome! You have to consider that they backed up every guitarist who appeared on that show.....no small feat! That's a lot of musical variety there! Pino Pallidino was the bassist. I know he played the bassline on "Sorrow" a bit differently than Guy Pratt does, but it was still outstanding!

Team USA Beijing 2008......amazing awaits

oh, I wasn't slappin' the band. I agree, it was some multi-arist event. It was clear that the whole production wasn't about "Dave."

I do think what I saw was in England, 'cause the Union Jack was behind them on the stage, and he was announced "onto," the stage, by some sort of host of sorts.

You could just tell from the format. I don't know if it was for Fender, but if you guy's know, I buy it.

The backing band played well on the song, when you understand they didn't rehearse to go on the road, or whatever. I liked it. Walkman

nope, the actual show did not include Marooned, but you can find a bootleg version on the PULSE DVD at the "Bootlegging the Bootleggers" section along with "What Do You Want From Me", "On The Turning Away" and "Poles Apart"

Capt. Midnight Wrote:and he was announced "onto," the stage, by some sort of host of sorts.

It's Phil Manzanera, co-producer of Dave's "On An Island" album, and a great guitarist in his own right, he was the guitarist in Roxy Music and he played a track, "6PM" before announcing Dave onto the stage, he also played guitar on Dave's 2006 world tour.
