RE: David's Song, "Marooned,"
That's awesome, I'd never heard it before, thanks for the links!
Yeah, Manzanera is a brilliant guitarist in his own right. He's obviously very close to Dave musically, because I can't imagine him playing (mostly) rhythm guitar for anyone else in the world.
BTW, while Marooned is certainly Dave's song, in part at least, it's also Rick Wright's song--if I remember right, it grew out of a Rick piano piece. The chord progression is very typical of Rick's writing style.

I agree with the last bit. On Echoes, when Marooned leads into Great Gig in the Sky, it works really well, probably because they are both heavily Rick-ified.

Except for the Echoes version of Marooned is severely butchered.

It's Phil Manzanera, co-producer of Dave's "On An Island" album, and a great guitarist in his own right, he was the guitarist in Roxy Music and he played a track, "6PM" before announcing Dave onto the stage, he also played guitar on Dave's 2006 world tour.
and who did David play with at Live Aid? hmm? hmm? that's right, Brian Ferry, Ray Manzanera and Roxy Music
And now the final solution can be applied.

I'm curious too, I suppose those strings are from 1952, so are not that durable now

You gotta be sarcastic you think David would play strigns that are over 50 years old lol.
No he was using his now signature Ghs Boomer David Gilmour Stratocaster Gauge 10 Guitar Set.
And To Above its all in his hands but yes he is usings the IPBS with a Ernie Ball Volume Pedal As A Sub Expression Allowing Him To Play A note And Make It An Octave Higher By Having The Pedal Flat Out To The Ground.
Soz i dont know y i did it in caps....

I figured Manzanera and Ferry were close enough, but in retrospect it was billed as Bryan Ferry, wasn't it? Hey! You weren't even alive then!...
