RE: Is it just me..///
I'm told that liability insurance costs have drastically increased for large venues since 9-11 (probably even going back to the Atlanta Olympics bomb incident), being they are places of "mass gathering"... these costs get passed on to the ticket buyer, like everything else. And if the larger venues are getting those kind of prices, of course the smaller venues are going to raise their prices too, because they can (plus their costs have probably increased too). But I think it's way more than that... these days music is such a huge industry and so many different people have their hands in the deal and need to be paid. And then there is the issue of low CD sales to make up for. All these factors put together equates to ticket prices increasing at a rate way higher than the rate of inflation... makes me sick really. But I don't think the artists themselves are profiting that much more than they did years ago... I try to keep that in mind.

My friends mom also said that they have rasied the price of tickets because there are more lighting things and just like gas has gone up so is how much people are being payed

but that means when i'm like in my 30's tickets probably cost like $3,000
and people will be payed like a whole bunch more

$200 or $300 a ticket is insane unless the seats are great. The face value of tickets last year at Madison Square Garden were $89.50-$135.00. If you want good seats for anything in NY and elsewere you have to go through the brokers and and pay a fortune. Ticketmasters sucks because they never have anything available. Now they have the nerve to hold auctions for tickets. They are as bad as Ebay and the brokers. I would bet Roger doesn't collect on a $300 ticket.
