Oh no, not again, I thought we left the 80's behind already. What's up with the goddamn "ROGER WATERS DID NEARLY IT ALL HURR" mentality? Fuck it, how goddamn long years it takes before credits for e.g Money are corrected? Waters didn't write the **** track on his own, Gilmour is responsible for what critics consider songs greatest strenght - the sudden time signature change from 7/4 to 4/4 - as well as couple of riffs heard through the song, Rick's keyboard parts are completely improvised by him and instrumental part/bridge was basically band jam. Yeah, Waters had big hand on the track but it is far from being dominated by him, it is band track like Time on DSotM. Geez

Or let's take Have A Cigar. It is nearly all-Waters, but opening bars and riff is heavily based upon WYWH's riff which Gilmour wrote. Welcome to the Machine was "pretty much made up in studio" meaning both Rick and David had their hands in it. As for Animals, well, I'm 99 % sure after careful pondering and studying Sheep contain writing by BOTH Rick and Dave, Pigs by Dave too.

And The Wall, geez, that is chockfull with uncredited stuff for Erzin and Gilmour. Another Brick in the Wall, Floyd's greatest hit? Sorry, not Roger only. Dave wrote the iconic rhytm guitar part for it as well as the goddamn chords for the ending bit with one of his most famous solos.

The Final Cut's title track's strongest musical element is "dadadada" string arrangement nicked from Comfortably Numb's chords. Gaaahhh....

I really **** hate it how even nowadays you once in a while stumble upon "Roger wrote it all" mentality. For ****'s sake, this article doesn't give any credit for PATGOD or Meddle in Floyd legacy. And handing out Radio KAOS and Pros and Cons instead of Meddle is herecy. Or for the fact everyone of Floyd's most classic legendary tracks of 70's has been collaboration of sorts from One of these Days to Comfortably Numb

Oh, and they didn't even get Roy Harper thing right, how telling about their editorial skills if not their general knowledge level of Floyd Rolleyes

[/rant]

Otherwise it was good read, thanks for it

The article was interesting, but in terms of the essential/superior etc stuff, I respectfully think they're full of s hit

good day.

Snake, history will never know what she did. No one will ever learn the truth. Her story... her debriefing... will endure only in your heart. Everything she did, she did for her country. She sacrificed her life and her honor for her native land. She was a real hero. She was a true patriot. ~ EVA re: The Boss (MGS3)

Did the person who wrote that ever listen to WYWH? Roy Harper and David sound nothing alike, and David has a very distinct, recognizable voice. How could they not know David was singing on WTTM?

Good gravy. I can do that job better, for less pay, and get everything right.
